Killer BEHIND you blocking vaults? Wtf?

So I was playing against a Wraith, I was facing a window and he was right behind me, standing still in a narrow corridor. I pressed the vault key multiple times but nothing happened... is that supposed to happen or it's a bug/cheat? Do all killers have this "ability" or just the Wraith?

If they stand in front of the vault or bodyblock a spot you need to be in during the vault, then you cannot do it. It works like that with every killer. After all, you can't just phase through the killer.

There is also something called the entity blocker, which can block windows and make you unable to vault. Most commonly it activates when a survivor vaults the same window 3 times during the same chase, when a killer vaults with the perk Bamboozle or when a survivor vaults a window once while Hex: Crowd Control is still active.

It's a bit hard to tell what happened but if it's none of these, then it was probably the spaghetti code malfunctioning.

If he was occupying even a tiny bit of the window it'll block you from vaulting through. As a wraith enjoyer myself a go-to tactic is to use wraith's inherent speed to get ahead of the survivor and block them off from their vault or pallet.

Killer's all have (with chucky being an example exception) the same and very large hitbox.
Wraith stands very upright so he doesn't fill as much visually of the space, but he does still take up the same amount of space.

So they can stand not quite fully flat on behind you but if it's like at an even slight angle behind you, their hitbox pushes into the vault space and stops you from vaulting. You need full vault clearance to make a vault.

It's more noticeable against Wraith because of their posture/visible size and also the fact that wraith plays involve body blocking a lot anyways so they attempt to do so more.

Summary: It is supposed to happen, just looks a bit weirder with some killers like wraith though, but all killers can do it.

Does that mean you need some space behind you? In short, if you are literally stuck between the killer and the window you can't vault?
