this game became so boring
i used to play this game a lot, but now it just revolves around kiting the killer around a table and dropping a pallet on him for 20 minutes?

The game only changes when the builds on the killers make it a different beast but thanks to the awesome MMR and survivor power those addons and perks are simply the best they can be so it is the same 3-4 killers over and over all playing the exact same way and survivors doing the same.
Try playing both sides to balance it out or just take a break which is the most sane option imo.
yea i came back to the game after a few years. playing some of the killers are almost obsolete. i wish there was more of an in game tutorial to explain late game tactics.

playing as a survivor i either get over chased or dont see the killer all game. its only fun when me and the boys do custom
I used to be a killer main and played the game daily for years. About 6 months after MMR kicked in I went survivor main and have been that ever since. Now, I only play DBD during events and it is still fun, it doesn't feel like I am spinning plates like I was as killer and facing the same builds over and over (and thus me having to play the same killers and builds over and over). Still, I could never go back to playing killer and playing daily, playing DBD less is the best thing I ever did with DBD. Looking forward to the xmas event, after that I'll uninstall the game until the next event starts, it really is the best way to play it.

Yep, now it's running around a pallet sumilator with Nurse in it :P flaaawless design
Gotta agree. I only play it on a off every 6 months or so for the past 3-4 years.

When killers used to be scarier I had a lot more fun with both roles. Killer was more about slashing, you felt like this unstoppable killing mashine - ironically despite there being more palettes on the maps and there being real infinites. Specializing in one killer felt really rewarding and you got the edge in future games. Many killers feel the same now and people call some "viable" whilst others walking memes.

In my survivor games I get these moments fairly rarely when I am truly scared of a killer and put a ton of respect on them. These are the moments I play for as survivor, heart pounding, being scared because someone plays a really good artist, hag or whatever.
I feel like it's still incredibly satisfying to play demanding killers like Huntress and Deathslinger and perform well with them. But I won't deny that a solid fourth of the killers needs some serious love.
Game was always like this. Its always been extremely imbalanced by its very nature (in that survivors have 4 x the eyes and map ability of the killer) in favor of groups. This was never fixed or dissuaded and in fact just continues to get worse over time as survivors represent 4 players and a killer is 1. Its 4 x as worth it to appeal to survivor than killer. So Killers continue to get nerfed while Survivors will go for years at a time with ridiculous free escapes, hyper mobility and under 30 second gen pops. Occasionally killer gets a pity op killer released but otherwise killer boils down to playing like 3 of them which don't suck or hating yourself.
Like boydblocking a killer trying to hook someone, you can just stand infront of them to counter that. For a killer to take a perk to deal with this he's using 1/4. A survivor team has 16 perks + items to play with. And this will never be fixed by making a killer who's carried a guy for X time just 1 shot players dumb enough to get that close or anything, instead, killer will get nerfed again to appease Survivors.

As a killer main I would legitimately call what you're describing a skill issue. Someone is bodyblocking you while you are carrying? Whack them. They run in front of you a second time? Whack them again and get another down. A third survivor has run up to body block you? Whack them. You won't get the hook but there are now two or three injured survivors and you can work with that.
yea i used to play the doctor because he was really different at the time and spooky. now in order for me to win i have to play like a ♥♥♥♥♥ and 3 gen people? now no one has fun. also used to play old freddy but even back then he kinda sucked.
So I'm a new player that just got into the game. My point of view is certainly different from others here. But I just aim to have fun when I play. I don't play to win and I don't care about rank. I like playing killer the most. I've been trying out the ones you get from the start and I plan on buying The Artist once I get enough shards.

But honest question, would it be so bad to use perks that aren't meta? Just for the sake of spicing up gameplay or doing something different? I'm experimenting with perks and having a blast.
Game did not change, you just played to much, maybe take a break from the game and try Civ.
The game was much more survivor sided in 2016-2018. And it wasn't until 2020 that things started to slowly get better for killer. The past 2 years seeing the biggest improvement in game design and balance for both sides.

I have no idea why people think classic DBD had no looping. Back then you had double windows, infinities, larger maps with 10x the pallets, old DS, insta-blind flashlights, pallet vacuums, old Balanced Landing, insta-healths, insta-gens, old Haddonfield, hatch standoffs and super dark maps with Blendettes & P3 Quentins. Among many more unmentioned BS.

Game has never been in a better state balance wise.

It all depends on what kind of survivors you are playing against. If they're bad or simply not giving 100% to win you don't need meta perks.
It is just how game becomes after released for a while. Gameplay becomes like an equation, do this do that don't do this don't do that to win.
Pretend to be a friendly Trapper, but have all your traps set up at the exit gates.

There are alternative strategies.
