Sorry, I mean this respectfully but it would help a lot when typing more than one brief message; the eyes just get lost when it's a large volume of text.
Towards your point; yeah people treat Skull Merchant players poorly even though there is not much reason to right now. Mostly they are hung up on how they used to be and just have not gotten over it, so I think it will get better with time.
I don't think a lot of survivor players also have actually played Skull before and after; or at least fully followed the changes and how she plays now. I say this because they don't seem to recognise all the counter-play options they have to her ability now, and seem to be acting off old skull merchant- this really backs up my theory that they are still lashing out because of the old version of the character.
My advice? Disable chat next for the time being when playing Skull Merchant, set your info to private/anonymous to avoid harassment, and just play like normal for now and in a couple months I imagine things will settle down as people adapt.
(If you want to help speed this process up, you can take it a step further by playing ridiculously nice. I mean no tunnelling no camping, give last person hatch generally, and so on. If you do this enough it might help get people's mentality swapped over from when the killer had the ability to hold games hostage; and many toxic players flocked to this ability happily. So giving the killer a good positive public image would be great.
You don't have to ofc, but it could help everyone playing Skull Merchant if you were up to it)
I think we shouldnt encourage entitlement as a community. We should rather stand against it and let criticise when people act like that over some way of playing or even certain killer choices.
The best you can do is to stay respectful ingame and in the endgame chat, chat positivly with those who are already positive and ignore the Haters.
Keep in mind that DbD has a LOT of People looking for something to be mad about and Skull Merchants old kit cemented her as bad, even if she is now in a far better spot. You cant convince those determened to be angry to calm down
Pretty much this.
A lot of the hate should die down over time though, but there will always be those people regardless.
you cant get upset if u never saw the message to begin with
Honestly, I don't think I could ever play the game with chat on again. People. are. awful.
And I wouldn't worry about not using her drones, either, 'cause survivors who like her (and they exist) are going to want to play with them. Drone away. A friendly Skull Merchant gave me a drone once and as far as I'm concerned Nea named it Zippy and still has it.
But anyway, a game that should be a source of entertainment offering the best that is chases for majority, is increasingly a source of burn-outs for everyone involved due to serious balance and design problems, and specifically to this post, I'm referring to how the rework still made her efficient around 3-gen (which at this point is a problem related to maps) and even boosted in relation to chase, which brings us to the first point, in particular, how bhvr doesn't know how to take into account what is fun or not to play with or against and to what extent does this come at the expense of an entire role.
With that said, this is something that is beyond your control, so if you wanna play as skull merchant, put your profile in anonymous mode and disable the endgame chat, It's that simple.
