I took a long break from the game, and since I've been back, the problems I had 4 years ago are still there. Playing as a solo survivor is not a very fun experience which often lead to toxicity. Especially if you have a competitive spirit. telling players to take a break is condescending and unprofessional and that was a long time ago he said that.
I use to have a friend that exclusively played Killer and it eventually got to a point where the smallest infractions a survivor did (bodyblocking for a injured teammate for example) was enough to harass them in endgame and when confronted he stopped playing for a couple of months and had a new mindset.
Objectively, Mathieu Cote saying that is right sometimes you need to take a break from something if you're burnt out or mad but as you said yeah as the games Director he should be improving the average players experience then just saying "Nah bro take a break".
The limited time battle pass stuff and holiday events back to back can be draining too, and are certainly a factor in this sort of burnout, at least for me.
It's like listening to my favorite music, sometimes I play a song I have bookmarked because I haven't heard it in a while, then play it again, then I'm like "I love this song, and I don't ever want to hate it because I overplayed it, let's listen to something else." Games can be the same way.
And yeah I don't get how the bigger content creators do it they're basically put on a pedestal of expectations where it feels like it could crumble at anytime especially with how protective people can be with their favourite content creators.
Having them in their own "Party mode" queue where the game mode changes, they can put event stuff in that queue too during events, etc...
You would be frustrated with the main game and be like okay whatever, lets see what is in the party queue this week- oh it's Prop Hunt, or 2 v 8, or Swapped Perspective, etc....
I hope they do not only add one game mode, because a dedicated queue where they add others would be great. They could remove the matchmaker (or divide it into larger group pools at least) in that queue and focus on adding elements that add a little randomness and focus on FUN games rather than FAIR games for a change. It would let people unwind.
It could be like swapping off some highly competitive online racer to play Mario Kart for a bit essentially.
Right now the learning curve is too high, and friends I have tried to bring into the game are like "This is boring" because holding m1 on gens, or running from killers while not knowing how to actually run them, dying to a BILLION different perk/power/item/effect combinations you don't understand is overwhelming.
God, the more I think about it the more I realize a special chill mode queue would solve so many problems the game has.
