I used to have much more fun then and DH was never a must for me
You think Trapper sucks now? HOO BOY!
Right on. I wouldn't say it's exactly "balanced", but considering it's an asymmetrical game that's ultimately kind of an impossible metric. It's definitely overall BETTER in a lot of ways than it ever has been, but the MMR system really needs a complete rework. Or at least significantly greater transparency if it is indeed working as intended, because it seems completely arbitrary. The primary problem plaguing DbD is a combination of an extremely newbie-unfriendly learning curve and a generally hostile and hateful tribal-mindset community which inevitably scares away a lot of the new blood, and a compromised matchmaking system that can frequently result in newer or less skilled players facing down thousand-hour veterans while still trying to wrap their heads around what perks do what. I wish they'd do a little more to break down concepts, terms, and mechanics more thoroughly in the tutorial and menus and advertise using Custom VS Bots as a way to familiarize yourself with the game before jumping into live matches. Of course, none of that will matter if the MMR keeps throwing people into matches randomly with no apparent rhyme or reason.
Blight and freddy in the same game
Survs with 200 hrs matching vs killer with 15k hrs. Balanced
Killer perks: painres, pop, corrupt, sloppy, no way out. Thats all. Tunneling for killer - the only viable and the most simple strategy. Balanced
Wesker and blight each second game. Balanced
Didn't see pig, freddy, billy, twins, trickster, clown, hag and some other killers at least for 500 games. Balanced
Didn't play vs survivors who don't use: resi, dead hard, d.strike, adrenaline, (mft gone thank god), medkits or bnps for at least 2 or 3 years. Balanced
Balanced. Very well balanced. I agree
And also maps. Either there's tonn of dead zones, either there tonn of god windows and god pallets, no other options. Triangles and gen placement are great too, the best state of the game!
...
It took them forever to balance the game, give it time.
Sometimes I think the best circle of hell for some people would be to go back to the old days who think things were "better" when things were a certain way then make them go against exactly that. Bit like what happened when a DBD dev went against that flashlight squad if you remember that incident.
With that said I do agree with you. Matchmaking is dogwater but in terms of actual game balance it seems more or less decent. I'd change a few minor details to make things more balanced or more skill-based perhaps but aside from that I will say the game is in an overall good state.
I get matched with people that clearly just bought the game during the holiday sale when I'm Iridescent 3 with 900 hours.
Balance wise game is probably a little Killer sided now because of so many info perks and exposed perks like Friends 'til the End, Lethal Pursuer, Ultimate Weapon, the Knight one, etc.
i think their recent MMR changes recently just made things worse, or at least made any unbalance more obvious (as they made peoples face stronger opponents consistently instead of being more like russian roulette)
grade like ash/bronze/silver/gold/iridescent means nothing really, its not counted in your MMR, just a cosmetic evidence you've done well during this month, its reset every 13th of a month, and you get pretty nice bloodpoints rewards for it (up to 1M, 2M if iri one in both killers and survivors)
What does really count though is your total hours, that can really help when people want to determine your potential skill
most of them can be countered by distortion, so aura perks doesn't help much against many teams, friends til the end is indeed good, but doesn't help much when survivors allow you only 3-4 hooks per game
i tend to say its survivor sided (we cana argue by how much, still tend to favor survivors), as they have many opportunities to cancel killer progression (and many safety nets if they fail somewhere), meanwhile many killers are forced to take 2-3 gen regression perks to keep up with gen speed
Also complains about tunnels seems to skyrocket, probably because many other viable/efficient strategies got nerfed (camping for example is harder) if killers are forced to tunnel more and more troughout pathces, you can't say its "killer sided"
