Why is deadlock good?
How come this perk is considered so good? I clearly don't know how to use it, because I never get any value out of it. lol

Because its automatic, target the most completed gen and stop any progression for 30sec

In a game state where peoples can do 5 gens below 1 min each, even 30sec of peace seems important

Its also an effective way to sabotage gen-rushing, and again, as its automatic, you don't need to do anything but play like usual, which mean finally you can focus on chasing a bit more

captain hook Dec 26, 2023 @ 2:02pm
imagine 2 gens popping by the time you get your first hook
with deadlock one pops the other gets paused
during those 30 seconds you can finish your chase
and hook him on a scourge whats its name that regresses the gen with most progress,
the one that paused
now you can go over there and use pop goes the weasel

30 seconds on a gen with good progress might sound like nothing, but considering the killer is running a game where a mistake that costs 2 seconds is a deciding factor between 0k and 4k, it is a massive help.

it's good because people really don't know how to play around it at all.

you just answered your own question, you don't need to know how to use it to get value from it lmao..

It's good because it hinders the most effective way to do gens, which is to put one person on 4 different gens and crank em out. When they do that vs Deadlock, they wind up getting interrupted and locked out of their gen for 30 secs.

Of course, it's not a perfect perk. I don't use it, personally. If they do gens one at a time, you're kinda screwed, and multiple gens can still pop at the same time if they do it at the exact same time.

It's like a second Corrupt Intervention, a game delay that you don't have to do anything to have occur. Whether you are good enough for it to matter however is another issue. Perks are balanced around the killer whose power they were introduced with. Meaning they shine strongest when coupled with. The time that Deadlock buys you is likely long enough for the next chain hunt from Cenobite. It will feel the strongest with that killer, but for a killer like Trapper, it still buys them time through the match to throw down a couple of traps every gen pop.
Nurse's Calling is another example of a perk that best suits the killer it came with but is still useful on them all. With her blinks and unpredictability the aura read for healing is much easier to take advantage off compared to a killer that has to walk to the survivor mid heal.
