Why are people adverse to having FNAF join the game?
I don't get the hate on FNAF in a lot of posts. Even you have a personal disliking of the franchise, many others love fnaf and want to see it included in DBD.

There are people under the impression that FNAF is a "Kid's franchise". This is not true and plenty of adults enjoy it as well for it's gripping lore and well designed games. Just because it's mascot horror doesn't mean anything, people of all ages like mascot horror just as much as slasher horror.

And might I add that Springtrap is a great choice for the killer of this franchise. He is the literal child murderer in the lore, he possesses great potential for powers (stuffing survivors in suits and tracking survivors by the sounds they make to name a few), and he has a great design with the broken suit and flesh sticking out.

Overall I think that people are biased towards FNAF because of the false impression that it is for kids only, and that stops them from seeing the great potential it has for DBD.

How does nicolas cage fit in a game like DBD?
Well, he was in some horror movies and hearing "They added Nicolas Cage to X" doesn't inflict the same "They ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ WHAT?!" reaction as "They added FNAF to X".
speak for yourself XD i had the exact reaction when i heard nic cage would be added as... himself.

i dont hate it
i dont know if jumpscares are to be concidered a (sub)genre of horror or not,
ive never been a massive Horror enjoyer
but i am not a big fan of the cognitive dissonance around overly safe wording ect
in a game that is built around peoplein some kind of inescapable Hell getting killed ove and over and killers saying stuff like betwetter and ripping someones face off as a mori
compared to the speak filters for example
and the FNAF franchise
i assume
would only be made to draw in and please people of a very young age
wich
quite frankly
i dont want to suffer having as teammates because the matchmaking is allowing a stretch in favour of queuetime
Does jumpscares make ppl scared or not? Ive seen grown ppl piss themselves while playing the games. Kind of the same reaction youd get from horror movies aswell. As for the whole concept thing... I mean we have comedy horror in the game with ash and soon with chucky. Seeing a rotting corpse shoving ppl in mascot robots that impale them and dieing agonisingly slow deaths doesnt sound too far fetched of a concept.
Jumpscares are a cheap form of horror. So cheap you'd get the same effect from jumping someone around a corner in COD or sneaking up on a stranger and yelling "Hey!" in their ear. It's nothing but surprise and that completely devalues the source of it. Old horror movies actually tried to build up dread of the killer instead of relying purely on le funny jpeg appearing on screen to get a spook.

I mean it was certainly a surprise to me but I didn't get hit with second hand cringe like I would if I one day found out FNAF was in the game. Although to be fair my first reaction would be to laugh it off because of how absurd the joke would be, then die inside a little when I'd get the confirmation that it was real.

I mean if we argue about it being "fitting" to DBD i'd say FNAF fits more than nic cage.

I think the creator of the series is a pretty bad person, and doesn't deserve to have his IP in the game. I don't think fans of FNAF are bad people, and I'm not going to attack them personally for enjoying it, but my feelings on the series in general are permanently tainted by the person who created it.

Otherwise, the actual content of the games is w/e. The games have pretty bad writing, but DBD's lore also has some pretty bad writing, so it's not like that matters. A part of me almost wants it in the game, just so I can stop seeing people go "omg it's definitely springtrap this time guys, frfr" every few months.

Gameplay-wise, it would probably fit just fine. Probably some stealth/jumpscare mechanics. Maybe a camera system like singularity.

FNAF from the point of view is a weak horror game, more aimed at younger audiences, the plot is also a mixture of everything and nothing. It doesn't fit a game like dbd at all, so I don't know why they would have to add it to the game. going this route, why can't they add some characters from Japanese 2D dialogue horror games, there is also a plot and characters there.

You're really comparing Nicolas Cage to a bad children's game. This actor can boast of a large number of films, even horror films, and even a role in a classic horror film.

You can’t really say it doesn’t fit into dbd anymore tho, not after trickster, ato and wesker but you can say you dont want fnaf in dbd because its a bad franchise, tho that would just be an opinion bear in mind

I dont care much about fnaf anymore i used to but now id rather want scarier looking killers like dredge or doctor and a character i would love to see and get added, fiddlesticks from league of legends

I've never played LoL in my life, let me just check what this character is about.

OK, so this is some kind of automaton-looking thing, with a scarecrow aesthetic, carrying a scythe on its left, whilst the right one is some massive claw thing. That's a pretty neat design.

And from what I can gather from the lore, it's some kind of unknowable entity, nobody is certain what is real about it and what are just stories. It seems to kill from the shadows, picking off victims which are isolated, and sowing fear in its prey with "wailing of crows that aren’t crows, sounds that aren’t sounds".

That's horror. The fear of the unknown and the uncertain, with that feel of "don't leave the safety of the campfire, there are dangerous things out there" which has been at the core of horror stories since Humanity was still living in caves, and stories like this were told around the fire.

So yeah, I've never heard of Fiddlesticks until literally just a few minutes ago, but I would absolutely take him as DBD Killer over a freaking FNAF character any day of the week.

I'll admit that I have the same second hand cringe from Trickster existing but I can at least give him - and the others you mentioned - the fact that they have a power the Entity would want them for (even if one of them is literally just throwing knives). Springtrap, canonically, has nothing. At best he has control over some animatronics which makes him a glorified Knight cosmetic.

He got voice lines too and he repeats just what his victims say, god i feel sorry for whoever said “its in the house!” and “let me in!”. He got a trailer too you should definitely check that out

He supported a notoriously anti-LGBT political party financially and when called out on it said he stands by his decision.

They'd have to make up something. He was a basic human being before he got into the suit and after he got into it he got... prolonged lifespan, somehow, but that's it. The whole "get into the real world through a VR game" thing happened after Springtrap.

Well springtrap is built up in the span of 3 games. As for the scares they dont happen instantly. In 1 when the power goes out the time is random, 2 sudden pauses in movement or puppet escape, in 3 when springtrap is nowhere to be found, 4 relies on your time to make choices wich could be "fatal" and so on.

And honestly old horror movies doesnt necessarily build that up either. Scream was constantly getting hit and missing his attacks making him look like a total idiot, Ash vs evil dead isnt scary at all, nor is Chucky, especially with all the cursing.
