what's the point of running that perk when your character makes more noise breathing then the actual foot steps ?

The killer doesn´t hear the survivors breathing but it does hear the footsteps.
When the survivor is injuried the killer can hear his grunts of pain.

There's a few characters that have quiet breathing while healthy though, like Ace, Ada and Sheva.

Can confirm. Killer can absolutely hear survivors breathing, including healthy survivors. I have been able to find survivors in lockers this way.

I will say that the range on the breathing is much smaller than the footsteps range though. So the point of the perk I guess is to reduce your audio profile until Killer is right on top of you

Yeap pretty much this, it helps a lot when they hide inside lockers

I use it mostly for the scratch marks being all over the place and make it hard for the killer to tell where i went

Maybe from exhaustion effect, other than that you cant hear unless you use the perk for it.

no, characters breathe and make sound. you hear it yourself as a survivor in quiet place.
