How did the game lose over 12000 players?!
I took a look at the steam charts out of curiosity i taught the game was doing well with the Alien chapter in the game but it didnt bring in new players insted dbd lost 6000 players in that month alone.

I was thinking it might be because of TCM but that game has around 4000-5000 players on steam.

Or did this happen beacuse of the chapters. Im curious what was the last dbd chapter that you guys were satisfied with i have a feeling most people will say Project W.

But maybe players will come back for the Halloween event.

What caused this massive decline in players in your opinion?

They got sacrificed to the Entity once to often and lost all Hope, making them useless and thrown into the Void

Dbd's in a boring stale state and they don't do enough meta perk shakes up or tackle stuff quick enough unless it effects survivors.

Some are playing the bubba game and other are waiting for the next event.

Probably the constant survivor basekit buffs that make playing against good SWFs nothing but torment. While at the same time doing nothing to help Solo players because the problem with Solo has nothing to do with game balance but poor matchmaking

Well when killers can't help themselves but ruin the game for survivors, you can't expect them to just stick around and play.
Casual gamers and new players won't stick around to entertain you if you treat them like garbage. Tunneling someone first gen, camping, slugging the third survivor for 4 minutes to deny hatch, the bm.. those things piled up to the point it's just not fun anymore.

I stopped playing around the summer, it was just getting more and more atrocious.
I could play more killers but it just get boring playing only one role. I wanna play both roles but I just can't. I'm tired of being some punching bag for a few killers with anger issues and god complex. So I imagine many players feels the same as me.

i think all the missing people are changed to epic to play dbd because epic dbd runs more stable than steam dbd. this is fact, i experienced it by myself a couple of times. i have dbd on both clients.

Agree

last killers buff.
1) Killers are really toxic in the game or in chat after. ("Hey I killer You noobs.")
2) Usually just camping survivors on hook.
3) And playing with ultra-rare gear in bronze IV.

Go and play games like this...

both sides are ruining experiences for each other, this isn't just a thing killer should be blamed for nor survivors.

most players weaponize terms "casual" and "fun" when they reach the point where game doesn't become easy anymore and it actually requires some macro knowledge to pull to win, so both terms are quite often used as an excuse for losing matches.
That's why most "casual" players who play "only for fun"stick to meta perks and builds and have serotonine rush when they win, but the game suddenly becomes unbalanced when they lose.

my dear brother in Christ, you are suffering from a well known gaming thing, burnout.
Whether you are playing Minecraft, League of Legends, Counter Strike or any other game, you will reach specific point when you will feel a huge neccessity for taking a break (usually happening in games with competitive aspect)

I feel the same except it's about survivors.

I play both roles equally but toxic killers don't discourage me from going into queue, toxic survivors however have me actually AFRAID to queue into a game as killer some days.

I am like "IS this the one I get bullied, insulted, have my blood pressure spiked, and then some guy stalks me on steam leaving hate comments on posted images and other nonsense?" and I end up just going into survivor queue instead.

As for the player base drop though, I don't think it has anything to do with toxic behaviour. People will suck up that, losing repeatedly, all the things they complain about if they enjoy the overall experience. I've seen that in many similar games, people will put up with bugs, even cheater problems as long as it isn't Tarkov levels of bad.

Thing is I think people are bored of the same old gameplay loop. Behaviour says they are finally considering expanding that to a new mode or something similar, odds are that will see the biggest player spike in some time whenever it happens.

We will see though.

I bought beta Baldur's gate and played in every version of the game even with bugs, have no example for cheaters,... but You can still play that game, because You can report cheater or bug and devs will change this...

... but bad behaviour from killers?

This will ruin Your game forever,... because it's like in real life... if partner just makes You feel bad... it's ok for once... but it's like cup filling with water... one day...

Some of them like me are just waiting the next update to fix some crap bugs. Halloween will bring most of these players back.

When a new Chapter comes out the player base will increase and once that chapter is hammered the player base will drop.
New stuff "everyone" want try, when it gets old "everyone" leaves.
It´s just like that in every game with repetitive gameplay.

And its also true that Steam players are dropping a lot while crossplay players are increasing. I don´t know why, I wont say the previous statements about this are true or false because I don´t know. If I turn Crossplay off it takes ages to find and fill a lobby and go to a trial, and I am not making this up, commenting based on facts from my own observation.

Games and people go through cycles. Not everyone wants to play only the same game for thousands of hours. Player base has barely decreased at all. Also, keep in mind, steam isn't the only area people play.
