And sometimes the server crashes when the last survivor gets sacrificed.
This happens when the game says my connection is fine and the fact that it happens when a survivor is about to die or get hooked for the first time makes me think this isn't so random.
But then it would crash when giving hatch or letting survivors wiggle off to open gates.
Sometimes I wonder if it's a bug in the server when certain things happen at this point.
in other games this is called a drop hack, and it usually messes with the public IP of the lobby match or through other natural exploits, such as a bug or script that causes the game to crash, as was the recent case of people abusing a Zarya's bug in ow2 that caused enemies' frame-rate to drop when using primary fire in a specific spot in Junktown.
If triple AAA games have these problems, imagine smaller ones like DBD
So, to me it would seem unlikely that given all this we don't see clear and obvious evidence of drop hacking like you do in other games.
That said, I've never seen anyone crash a game. Not to say it isn't possible but it isn't one of the common hacks/cheats used.
Other cheats are their own problem. Drop hacking isn't subtle unless the cheater isn't concerned with winning. They wait until the game is about to be over and they drop it.
For your consideration: if the op is correct a potential cheater disconnected the killer and nobody else. All the survivors left with their points and items and the killer got nothing. If such a thing is possible would we not be seeing reports constantly?
If what is happening IS actually cheating, it is very believable to me that it could have gone unnoticed. After all, I've been seeing this in increasing amounts ever since bots were added, and I'm STILL not 100% convinced of what I saw. Would be very easy to do something like this, and have the victims just think it was a technical issue.
Edit: With respect to the clarification it seems more likely to be the latter. Without asking his lobby what their outcomes were it's still uncertain to me.
Yeah, it sucks either way. I'm not discounting that it's possible only that I've not seen the widespread evidence that I would expect given similar events. I've not had many experiences with it personally and when I do it's usually explainable without assuming a cheater.
It's rather hard to show it in this game because "victory" conditions are very nebulous. They could do it to spite someone, to rank up, or to complete a challenge(depending on how it is done). The culprit could do it at anytime during the game i.e. when their time is up or later. With most games the end and the goal is obvious but with this one it varies a lot.
there are very old "visual" bugs around it in the game client, i mean, even today if someone in the match gives a dc bc a connection oscillation, the game treats it as if the match had ended and you can even see the score of others (while yours is 0) and can see the killer's perks, even if the match is still active
And in the case that you mentioned about the score, pretty sure that if the match ends a little after starting due to server problems, even if it's a survivor leaving (or the killer dc), the match will cancel, but if in that time the survivors started together, i.e, they will get the bonus of having started together and will retain the BP, even if the offerings and everything else are restored, while for the killer it will be 0, since there was no time for any action to take BP (but with refund too, obviously, which means no one loses nothing)
Certain players can and will crash the server or even crash your game.
Behavior knows about this and also know about other ways to cheat the game but they can´t or wont do anything to tackle those problems, unfortunately.
I use other killers and at time it does happen to me as I keep posting in the discussion chat over several days ago in the past months I can't be sure of what happen but it does happen.
When killer is in a roll winning , bam.. dc.. never once when I am losing that I got dc'ed always when I am winning the dc'ed happen when I play as a killer.
