Lagging as soon as killer gets near
I'm not well informed on how this kind of things work, so I don't know why, but even if my connection is good and the game is running smoothly I start lagging and teleporting around as soon as the killer gets near. It never happens (usually) but today every match has been like this. :sacrificed: Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Like as in character body collisions moving while rubbing up against eachother? Thats perfectly normal.

Or do you mean at certain distances, never really had anything like that otherwise.

No I mean that as soon as the killer is at a certain distance, idk at what terror radius exactly, i start teleporting at previous positions, sometimes there is a freeze in the animations too

That's lag switching, a cheat. If you don't experience anything, but once you get close to a survivor/killer and it happens, they're cheating with it.

I thought so too at first, but it happened in every single match for the whole game, and the killers where always different players

I would check my internet connection in that case.
1) network conditions
2) router/wifi, bad cable/connector, the last mile issues
3) PC is slow processing ingress/egress packets, because of:
3.a) it's slow
3.b) problematic network device driver
3.c) EAC put's additional load on the system, so cause these delays
3.d) you're running modern windows with broken scheduler not suitable for any real-time tasks.
3.e) you get DoS'ed.
4) the game server is overloaded.

My connection should be good, but I'll check everything to be sure, thanks for the tips!

Yeah I didnt think killers were still lag abusing but after getting several games where every survivor had 150+ ping and the killer had perfect ping. I see its still around

If it happens every game then maybe the router is filtering your incoming packets too much, dropping them, causing you to warp around. Or software firewall if you're using that. I would check that UPnP is working properly, then maybe test with disabling stuff temporarily, but other than that, maybe hard to diagnose unless someone else has solved it.

I don't think they were cheating it, probably there is another problem on my side

The strange thing is that I've been playing without problems for quite a whilse since I changed my pc, only yesterday it started to act weird. But thanks for the tip! I'll check it out

It could be lag switching though. It happened a lot on ark, it's basically a program that people use to do it. But let's hope it's a net issue :)

It would be a little strange if every killer decides to use it on the same day for the whole day...so it's probably an issue

I didn't think lag switching worked on dedicated servers. I thought it required local hosting to work?

Please do note that survivors who does it as well will affect you too -_-, it's not just one sided lol as stated from earlier post.

The majority of the other survs were from console, and again it's strange that it happened every single game. I'm now pretty sure that it's my connection that's having problems suddenly
