Self-Unhooking - 4% base chance, really?
So, there are a lot of mixed reviews out there about changes that have been made. But why have there been no changes to the % chance to unhook one self?

This is only available in the first hook state, so why is this a 4% chance? With 3 tries, that's still only 12% chance and it forces you into the next hook state.

Personally, I feel like the base chance to unhook one-self in the first hook state should be raised to 8-12% per attempt, being increased by 3% for moderate luck and 4% for great luck sacrifices.

Why? Because it kind of makes sense. If these characters are fit enough to run around and repair generators after being sliced up a few times, then in the first hook state, they should have a better chance of being able to perform this feat.

Also, *literally* nobody is taking slippery meat perk or even trying to unhook themselves. Doesn't that beg for a change in this department, at least for a test run?

And no, I am not a survivor main. I am a killer main 80% of the time who also plays survivor 20%.

I don't like this change but at least you're trying to give something fun instead of all those people saying "nERf iT" or "BuFf iT". Give survivors more fun scenarios and killers will have more fun scenarios too (I'm a killer main to btw)

The point of self unhooks arent for Survivors to be able to unhook theirselves. Its a last resort in case your team is unavailable, and you're about to skip stages anyway.

If anything they should be removed to prevent Survivors from killing theirselves.

You can stack luck to give over 50% chance per unhook meaning you'll save time never needing to go unhook on first hook. Self unhook does not need a buff, slippery meat by itself should get one however. Luck as whole should get reworked so it effects more than just self unhooks like better items and add-ons from chests, more skill checks (or maybe make skill-checks move slower so it's new player aid type perk).

Another thing that should happen is show builds and offerings in lobby between survivors. You could plan stuff like stacking luck, not to go unhook deliverance player, that somebody has unhook perks so they are designated for the job, etc. This would allow some planning and in general give information between players who are not on PC(and let's face it, none ever use chat even on PC in lobby).

I'm definitely on board with the idea of giving a better chance of a self-unhook. Not to an ridiculous extent, no higher than 25% with perks, luck boosts, etc, but the slim chances are pretty unreasonable when sometimes it really is your only option due to teammates abandoning you and it only being a first-stage option. Might help counter camping in some way too if you were more capable of freeing yourself, at the very least it'd cost the killer more time to chase you down again and give you a more active role if you were unluckily singled out (presuming you benefited from basekit endurance as if you were unhooked normally). As it stands, it barely feels like a mechanic at all because of just how unlikely it is to succeed, and when your survivor is (theoretically) at full strength is when they should be most capable of helping themselves, making the reliance on a teammate's health after your second unwanted perforation even more logical. In the meantime, I suppose at least there's Deliverance if you want to use a perk slot for a guaranteed self-unhook.

I feel that with the showing builds thing. It would be nice as a survivor to see what perks your teammates are running so you can build around it, if you're that type of player.

I'm unsure how I feel about this. On the one hand, I've literally seen someone down surv in 30 seconds, because they played horribly and whatnot, and an unhook turn that game into a 15 minute game, after the killer already had the winning conditions nearly completed. <-- This shouldn't be a common thing and can lead to such games being longer than they need to be as killers would be more likely to wait out every first hook in this situation.

On the other hand, survs can't always rely on solo queue players... if they can link luck chance to number of players you're playing with, that could be fine, though.

My Ace build is Slippery meat, up de ante, open handed, kindred. i usually unhook my self 2 out the 3 matches. i also believe luck does affect your chances to get rare items like the key, but i'm not sure on it, haven't personally test that.

If the chances of unhooking one's self is higher, than that will only encourage killers to proxy camp around the hook more. Why would I leave the hook if the survivors has a decent chance of just getting off the hook by themselves anyway?
Squeaky the Zepa Mar 25, 2023 @ 1:04pm
Yeah the primary effect of luck I think is just chest item quality. Rarer stuff like the key and map and higher quality of medkits, toolboxes, and flashlights. Two out of three matches though, that's nuts. I think I've only unhooked myself like...Five times since the game launched (by chance, not counting guaranteed escapes). Granted, I only try to do so when there's no chance I can be rescued due to everyone else being down or chased on the other side of the map, but still.

Exactly, this usually happens when my friend and i run my build, killer sees two successful unhooks, and will proxy the other two survivors.

The wiki says luck doesn't and never has affected items in chests.

Ja, the wiki states...

Only applies to self-unhooking from a Hook

No kidding? Huh, I could have sworn it seemed to improve quality of items too. Confirmation bias, I suppose.

Could simply be random luck and coincidental timing.
