How is the Onryo NOT OP?
I play both roles almost equally, but killer slightly moreso.
That said, I don't own the Onryo, but I play a lot against her as survivor.
Since I don't own her IDK the ins-and-outs of her power, but it just seems OP/Very strong that the killer can teleport across the map, and 99% of the TV's are right next to gens.

Am I wrong/missing something?

Because good players can beat her fine and it's silly to balance around the incompetent
Elettro46 Sep 12, 2023 @ 4:13pm
all people that think onryo is fine just wanna have an easy way to win with no skill involved they know perfectly she's too strong and oppressive and that's why they defend her so hard it's literally no risk high reward and that's very bad game balance

Hold a tape and boom she can't build condemn on you, so what if she gets a couple bars of condemn on you by hitting you just grab another tape and teleporting again cannot condemn you, after you hit about halfway on the condemn place the tape inside a tv and there ya go no more condemn.
The thing is I've never had to really deal with the condemn thing at all, it's just extremely hard to repair gens, since she can just come out of the TV right next to you, esp once a survivor gets killed.

She smol hence not OP. Easy explanation

Honestly I hate this killer because you have to go watch a video on how to play. Most killers you can just play a round and get it, but hers is all convoluted.
she messed me up when I came back as well.

I own her and consider myself a survivor main since I've been playing killer for just a few months. Yes she's incredibly op even being a M1 killer and I've condemned hundreds of people with her.

No. We just know she isn't that good. She is an M1 killer with no secondary means of hitting people. M1 killers are NOT hard to play around. Her power is threatening, but if survivors simple PLAY AROUND IT, it does nothing. Its like trappers traps. If you play around them, they don't do much at all.

Like, lets go over some of the best killers:

Nurse: ignores loops, and a lot of other things. Can cross the map in seconds.
Blight: Similar to nurse, except still has to loop a little even with his power.
Spirit: Also fast, makes survivors guess where you are at loops.
Plague: Fastest downing potential of every killer, and forces cleansing/insta downs.
Wesker: Mobile, can play around loops, and can slow down survivors with his ability.

Now compare that to onryo: No anti loop. Very minor slow down with her power. If survivors hold tapes, her teleports do NOTHING at all.

Very major difference in power levels there.

Was going to say how you're tripping thinking Oreo is OP but then Zalph beat me to it.

And no... there are multiple places where tiles link that survs can play around indefinitely or near indefinitely. Just because you will "eventually get a down" doesnt mean a killer is good. You might get a down after 3 minutes but 2-3 gens have popped and you still have to worry about actually getting the surv to the hook.

Oreo isnt trash tier bad but she certainly is not OP and there is no Oreo conspiracy to keep her perception bad in the eyes of survs lmao. tinfoil tier craziness.

I wouldn't say she is OP but she is very strong. The tapes don't provide enough benefit to offset the time involved in taking one to a TV. They're really just there to cleanse your Condemned status. Sadako is one of my most played Killers for sure and the games are definitely a lot easier on her now than they used to be. Making her immune to pallet stuns while demanifested alone was enough to skyrocket her power. She can be a very oppressive Killer in the hands of anyone at least half way decent with the role and she is no longer weak in chase (anyone saying this doesn't play her).

If you're against a good Sadako there isn't really any counter play. Pray the map layout RNG is in your favor and that there are good vault loops because pallets are no longer safe. She could probably use another adjustment to make her not such an "I win" button for decent Killers (increase her teleportation cool down and make TVs respawn slower when putting in a tape) but certainly not while things like Nurse, Blight, Skull Merchant, Wesker and now Xenomorph exist.

Bonus: You're also immune to Head On while demanifested. Very amusing if you ever catch someone trying to do it.

She's just another P2W killer that's advertised with fake statistics. She's boring to play as, because it's braindead easy to win as her.

I agree with all exept spirit shes kinda bad now unless you run the ultra rare addon that boost your speed and the other addon that give killer instinct. Shes have fall from the top 3 when survivor start having more info then her when she use her power.

I main surv, but when I play killer I play her the most. It's been even better since I moved to PC with her (former Switch player with about 800 hrs in DBD!)
I have been told in post-game chat that I was a good onryo and scary! But I have also been defeeated with a 3/4man escape enough times too and told GG EZ lol.
It really depends on the survivors and her add ons and to some extent, the map.

Add Ons:
I mainly use the YELLOW Reiko's Watch (almost every game) and alternate between GREEN Rickety Pinwheel or GREEN Bloody Fingernails .. I do fairly well with those. I don't bother with her iri or purple add ons often.

I think if you are after a game slowing build (getting people off gens all the time) the purple VCR would be a good add on as it would scare a lot of survs off gens, but once they realise what's happening it would become ineffective OR if they are confident survs and looking for a chase it would also be ineffective.

So I kinda rely on sneak attacks with her and the Reiko's Watch add on helps me in chase as I only manifest to hit and demanifest while chasing - which means i can mind game the survs better as they don't know exactly where I am while demanifested and chasing them.
I also demanifest AS SOON AS I project through a TV, especially while using Rickety Pinwheel, to make sure they don't realise I am there. I have gotten a few gen grabs like this.

Build:
I used spirit fury a lot when I first started with her, as people love to pallet stun and play around pallets with her. But now with her buff to pallet stuns while demanifested it's not as much of an issue.
My current build is pretty basic. Call of Brine always. Merciless still gets a lot of people somehow, even at higher levels. I haven't tried this yet: Merciless mix with Tinkerer so that you can head to the gen that is almost finished and scare them off it, thus triggering merciless to cover the gen. I have played a few good onryos who use Tinkerer.
I usually use Scourge Hook Floods of Rage. It helps me keep track of what's happening on the map.
Lethal Pursuer is good to figure out what's happening at the start and pairs well with FOR.
Nowhere to Hide is also good if paired with COB.

If you are against a really good SWF, then ggs :)

There are a ton of idiots who listen to people like Otzdarva saying she is low tier. Any killer that can FORCE survivors to play their mini games is automatically A tier. The simple fact she can teleport right next to gens is plus points. She is still a stealth killer who can hide her terror radius at will. Go watch some videos from One Pump Willie and tell me she isn't A+ or even low S tier.

One Pump Willie is amazing to watch !!

I agree with everything you have said. Like I said above, I use stealth and that's usually how I do better with her. Her power is amazing if used correctly.. and it's fun!

I do enjoy Otz and appreciate his knowledge of the game, and the tier lists and all the time he puts into them! But it is subjective at the end of the day. And I personally have never found Onryo to be low tier.

Just turn off the TV if you're so bothered by her teleporting around the small price to pay for that is that when you carry the VHS tape at time sadako can see your aura and also that at time the TV that you need to deliver the VHS is at time very very far away.

The ability to teleport had a time delay, so she can't teleport all the time.

Just keep cleansing yourself by turning off TVs and putting tapes in the specified location when the meter starts to rise.

Don't hate Sadako, she already had a tragic past, and she is being make fun because she is a shortest of them all.

Love her instead and give her a big hug next time you see her :D
