realistically speaking, why do DC penalties still exist for Survivor?
"to stop survivors from abandoning games" okay, yeah, i get it

Let's talk realism tho. they introduced Bots to take over a player who left the game.
The fact that DC's are punished, just encourages people to kill themselves first hook, leaving the team with a greater disadvantage.
there is no reason for DC penalties to still exist.

edit: all of you are missing the point. Someone who'd DC will just kill themselves first hook. the Bots should honestly be encourgaed, cause that way it won't be a 3v1
I'm NOT saying that DC's should go unpunished, but i'm saying that a time penalty makes the bots useless

Edit 2: y'all are still missing the point. DbD should be a casual game, and it should be in both the Survivors, and the Killers interest to not have to deal with BS.
a Survivor shouldn't need to play a 60 minute game against Knight and Skullmerchant
and a Killer shouldn't need to deal with a 4 stack, last second switching to their p100 fully kitted out survivors.
Fun is sometimes more important than the illusion of integrity

bots are not there to justify leaving from games, they exist to act as a bandaid for the person deciding to leave the match.
And DC penalties still exists because of dozens of reasons they exist in other online team based games too.

Because if there weren't DC penalties, survivors would DC against any Killer they didn't like. Even with bots replacing the survivor, survivors could force Killers they had issues with (Skull Merchant, Knight, Nurse, etc) to only ever play against bots. When DC penalties were disabled due to a bug last year, survivors quickly demonstrated that they would only play against Killers they saw as 'easy'. As such, the DC penalty exists so that Survivors can not effectively dictate which Killers killer players get to play as.

The game is meant to be competitive, and part of it is not knowing which Killer you are going against so that you can't build an easy counter to that killer. As has been demonstrated, when there are no DC penalties Survivors just quit each game until they get a Killer they see as easy

say u are a habitual dc player without say it

The goal wasn't to make DCing consequence free for the person who does it; it's supposed to protect their team and opponent from those consequences.

DC penalties are penalties for disconnecting.
Whether or not you get a penalty and how long it is does not affect the people remaining in the game.
Bots only affect the people remaining in the game.

What changed for you as the person disconnecting that you expect different treatment all of the sudden?

Really hard to kill yourself first hook atm, more like force yourself to second state but then someone almost always gets you before you can.

Killers often see this too and force you to remain in game and won't kill you and just slug you too.

The result is that trying to kill yourself in a game isn't even worth it. Just go do totems and watch youtube videos on another monitor when hooked; and don't bother dealing with chases if you want out. Which, makes you WORSE than a bot, but for w/e reason that is what Behaviour wants so.....

if you dc is still a 3v1, bots are dumb, if you don´t want the penalties just don´t play the game

TCM has no dc penalty and it is doing fine. So there is zero excuse as to why there has to be a dc penalty for DBD.
Evil Minіоn Sep 1, 2023 @ 3:33pm
I think people looking for all kinds of justifications to quit on games that don't go exactly as planned is a fine "excuse".

It's a multiplayer game, people don't queue up for bot games, so when you commit to a game have the minimum amount of basic human decency and don't just quit, because people don't do what you want them to do.

If you can't do that, play singleplayer games.

Maybe DBD could try to do what TCM does to not have people dc? Make the game fun for everyone and not turn it into some comp game which I'm glad the devs of TCM have said they are not going to turn TCM into a comp game.

Different game is different. TCM is also brand new. Everyone was having fun with dbd when it first came out to. Give people a couple years(if it lasts that long).

Also, people don't have to play by your rule book for "fun". Pretty sure random peoples rules just make the game NOT fun in fact.
Zelgadis Sep 1, 2023 @ 4:28pm
You'd have a point about people don't have to play by your rule book for "fun" if it wasn't for the fact that a lot of people play very maliciously. The countless malicious people I've ran into DBD is off the charts and all of it is done intentionally and in seriousness.

Having not read any of the replies... I don't want to play with bots. Do you?

I'd rather have a Bot than a 3v1 at 5 hooks
I'd rather have bots who actually play the game better than the randoms i sometimes get in solos

I'd rather play against a Bot, than play a 3v1 at 5 gens.

The bots aren't amazing, but at least they play the game.
I'd rather the Devs encourage DC's, than punish them, making an existing system useless
