I think it has more to do with the fact that the original wouldn't really have worked with the default Xenomorph without modifications to it's design.

After all, it has no tail it can use with the power and it's movements & body structure is completely different from that of your regular Xenomorph.

Indeed, the hybrid thing was more upright like a human. BHVR would have to make a new skeleton just for him.

I'm genuinely surprised they added the burned skin from AVP. That's a pull if I ever saw one. I might just have to get it...

Maybe if we get a Predator chapter eventually, we can get a Predalien skin.

It is a clone of Hybrid Ripley in the Alien Resurrection movie. Not the big boss one that has a human like face at the end of the movie, but one of the dozen clones she finds in a lab full vats. She burns them with a flamethrower.
