When I do play now, I just go around farming points; maybe throw out a quick hit at a survivor, kick gens, break doors/pallets, but I don't go for downs/hooks. It's possible you might just be seeing killers who dgaf anymore, and just want points and rift fragments.
When or if the day comes and they release killer bots for custom matches like the original mobile game, I may never play a public match again. I'll be able to run whatever perks I want and experiment and just run around and have fun. On mobile I would use mettle of man, botany, empathy, and self care and see how many times I could activate mettle.
lightborn (i change this out sometimes depending on what items i see the survivors are using)

He kept swinging at us but was always to early. He set traps at doors and gens LMAO.
And when he downed a survivor he would place a trap on them... His movements and everything else doesn't look human.
Funny in custom matches if there are a bot I don't see the bot killer option as I want to practice as a survivor it stated it needed one killer always.
For human killers that doesn't goes full speed and goes terminator mode on survivors at time , the people would think if we're too much serious and doesn't give any breathing room and people will stress out and leave the game, so in addition to that will get our queue longer as we wait for the matches to load up to play as a killer thus at time the killers make a choice not to be to brutally harsh to the survivors as at time there are new people into the game and wanted a taste something fun and exciting not outward stressful if they find the experiences to be too bitter and stressful they will rage quit and we lose the numbers thus we get a very slow loading match to fill up to play as killers.
