WTH is up with Ghost Face?
I am starting to believe that it's impossible to win against Ghost Face. Put him in a dark map (most of them) and it's hard to pick up on him. Cool trick, but put him in the hands of someone who would happily focus someone down, and you end up with games in the sub 3 minute category no matter what perk build you use. Literally, it's getting to the point where Ghost face is 60-70% of all killers I face because he's the strongest one. I have yet to win a single game against him specifically, no matter the team composition. Generator Rush, bully teams, evasion, everything has trouble. I only don't rage quit every single time I see a Ghost Face is because I don't want a ban, and I don't want to lose out on a few bloodpoints.

Any tips on dealing with him? Or should I just permanently play a bully build just to piss off killers (which, IMO, just makes the game and community more toxic)?

Ghostface follows the typical kinks of stealth oriented killers. The more experienced the survivors in the lobby are, the more exponential drop of win chance they get. The inverse is also true.

Due to Ghostface not having any innate mobility bonuses (aside from the one addon that gives him a very short one after successfully 100% marking someone), you can play it safe by doing what the dumb victims in Scream movies don't do:

1) Be aware of your own surroundings (i.e. don't shower alone) and keep rotating your camera to search, especially when doing generators. Mind the height differences.

#1 complaint I see against Ghostface is survivors complaining that they don't want to 'waste' their time and energy in rotating their views when they aren't hearing heartbeats. Well, you're obviously in the wrong game genre then.

2) He is a stalker that you can stalk back.

This is what separates experienced survivors vs those who aren't. His power becomes useless when someone constantly pulls him out of his stalk mode by staring at him.

Rather ironic in that the best way to deal with a stalker is to be a better stalker than him, but it works. For those who say that this is impossible, I can tell you as a Ghostface main for years, that you are utterly wrong, and that good survivors have been doing this since forever and still are doing it very well.

Small tips for survivors: usually, having his head higher than center of the screen yields better results. Survivor's 3rd person view also has a much better reveal angle and hitbox than the killer in practice, as a shoulder height obstacle can reveal him while his stalking power can't stalk you.

Even if you don't successfully pull him out of his Night Shroud stealth mode, he is now very distracted in either finding or avoiding you as he'll be getting notifications that someone is staring at him. If this doesn't faze him, he's deliberately built his perk build to counter survivors being aware of how to counter him and setup his plan as a normal, powerless, walking M1 killer.

He has little pressure, just rush generators.

It's only impossible if you are very oblivious, bad at chases & stealth with nobody doing gens.
AsianGirlLover May 9, 2023 @ 4:42am
Just force him into being an M1 killer. If you can’t break his stealth from behind cover, be ballsy and run into him and behind him. He doesn’t have collision when stalking so you can phase through him to confuse him and break his ability. Then it’s just a matter of running him for 5 gens or stalking and annoying him if he breaks chase and tries to stealth on your friends.

I had a ghostie DC on me once because I took first chase and kept following him around after he broke chase at 3 gens left.

This mechanic is grossly inconsistent for me and I've been unable to determine a reason why. Virtually every attempt to reveal him results in no or a very breif sound que even if ghostface is nowhere near cover. I check addons post game and see nothing to influence the reveal mechanic. I'll try putting his head higher than middle of my screen next time to see if it helps.

Well, if myself as a survivor and the experienced survivors that I'm trying to kill as Ghostface can consistently reveal him or myself, then there's gotta be a common denominator.

If a Deathslinger can successfully shoot & hit you with body hits or Huntress land body hits on you with throwing axes through a hole, the reveal mechanic should *usually* also work through such holes in walls/obstacles. When such projectiles are landing headshots instead, then it's entirely up to the invisible geometry of how you were viewing him.

There's one more thing that I didn't mention in that comment as well: the region that I'm playing at usually has very low average ping. If it isn't someone from Korean-Japan-China triangular circle, any high ping people were poor Australians who somehow landed in here rather than their own servers. Things did go weird if either the survivor or killer had high ping.

Yup, this is exactly how you or one of your teammates counter Ghostface. Disable his power constantly. Just be careful that you don't fall into his counter-traps. Experienced Ghostface users may lure his stalker into difficult to escape positions.

Thank you, I hope this helps you feel easier against Ghostface users. Contrary to what people claim so, he is honestly not as much of a threat than say, a competent Spirit or Wraith. It isn't uncommon that I get much more favorable results by playing such killers. I play Ghostface more often than others since I basically grew older with Scream franchise and I really liked the first movie when I saw it in theaters.

have no chase power = impossible to win LOL
As Dmesse stated, be hyper vigilant and constantly looking around at your surroundings. Pressure him by trying to break him out of stealth. This will force him to either expose you so he doesn't get broken out of stealth or be forced to wait for his power to be on cooldown when you do break him out of stealth.

Break line of sight often. Make it as difficult as possible for him to fully stalk you. Don't idly stand out in the open or run in a straight line if he's staring at you. Use your 3rd person camera view to reveal Ghostface while you are behind cover/concealment.

If you think he has stalked you to 99%, try to force him to hit you with a basic attack to get rid of all of the stalk % he has on you. A good way to get rid of stalk percentage is to body block for exposed teammates that are being chased.

IMPORTANT: Many Ghostface mains (myself included) like to proxy camp the first hook of the match. Don't go for the unhook alone because you're going to get easily downed and the match will snowball into a loss from there.
