Restricting the defusal of traps to a one use item that spawns on the map is terrible, you can quickly trap most survivors in the killer shack by doing that and potentially hold them hostage
I dont see the problem with it. You can still disarm the traps, just not all at the same time.
Get two survivors with the disarm-item and you get 2 or more traps out of your way(depends on how many usage the new item would´ve).
Looks like a skill problem for me, if you dont get this to happen.
What would be your aprouch to improve the current situation, or can you just critic?
That is currently the best playstyle for trapper, e.g. it can already be done. Your argument is weak (change would lead to X, but X is already here).
OP has a valid observation; playing trapper as intended is almost impossible. Concealed traps in bushes and high grass? Survivors WILL find them. Selfrearming injuring traps (double irdiescents)? Survivors will figure it out after 30 seconds, never open traps again but remember all their locations, then open them all before last gen, pop adrenaline and have an EZ endgame.
That being said, I've had some matches where people saw it was Trapper, and assumed it was instant "gg ez" for them. So they swarmed hooks like Lemmings, making it easy for Trapper.
Trapper playing as intended isn't impossible. It's just way more work than pretty much any other killer. On the other hand, devs prefer him this way because he's perfect for getting new players used to the game. And you can play him as intended for quite a bit.
Hell even in terms of the new standard set by the latest killers (SM and Hux) what if trapper didn't have to arduously stop for every trap, but threw it down and it set itself after a few seconds (And then reopen with the hunch over animation OR have the option to "drop" or set, with setting being faster but dropping retaining your mobility.)
They're willing to do super experimental stuff with pyramidhead before their literal main stage mascot.
2- give him a quick drop function. As in: pressing Ctrl will instantly drop a trap on the ground, but this could work every second trap. So you have to manually put one down before you can use the insta drop.

I am playing Trapper since the beginning and I am enjoying him only with almost the same addons every game. Purple Bag + Bloody Coil. That is why I
True. Basekit is too weak. Purple Bag is the only way to play him. But you cannot pick your traps up again. Really strange. Every other Killer can place their traps freely and has them in their "inventory" like Hag etc. + unlimited placement (latest trap vanishs).
Well my idea of a good rework for Trapper are the following buffs.
1. He has his Power at the start of the game (purple bag) and can pick them up freely.
2. 2/3 different kind of Traps. I mean he is the "Trapper". So why not more different traps.
First trap (beartrap -iron) is the normal like we already know.
If a Survivor steps on it, he will get trapped until he struggles free. Gets injured state but cannot get downed (without addon).
Second Trap is a wooden Trap. He can just drop it right behind him. Like a banana.
If a Survivor steps on it, he will get trapped until he struggles free. The Trap breaks and the survivor gets hindered for 5 sec.
The Trapper can still hit survivors in wooden traps afterwards the trap breaks and no hindered status.
Third Trap is a net trap. This trap placement has an animation. It can be placed on doorways, floors and windows. Bigger radius on the floor as bear traps. Survivors cannot free themselves.
If the Trapper hits a Survivor in any trap, then the Survivor is free or downed. Depends on health state before being trapped.
Addons need some reworks. No more bags etc. Other traplimits.
Maybe 6 bear traps, 6 wood traps and 2 net traps.
Either that, or let him be able to use some sort of telekinesis to pick up traps from several meters away.
The problem, that survivors can disarm all traps without any penalty would stay
If you don’t want traps disarmed, you need to not be seen placing them, and don’t place them in obvious spots.
Example: Instead of in between a pallet or door, place it in a grassy part of a loop that survivors would hug tightly. Grassy spots in general with high traffic are ideal, like near the fences of Bedham.
naughty bear was my favorite game on 360, i had both games and would play them for hours. they arent compatible with xbox 1 or series s so i cant play them anymore, wont be the same but its still naughty bear.
These should be basekit:
- Makeshift Wrap
- Coffee Grounds
And one of these two should be basekit:
Iridescent Stone / Bloody Coil
Trapper Sack should allow to pick traps up again. Otherwise it's only playable with Iridescent Stone.
Conclusion: Even then Trapper wouldn't be strong, but improved.
