Deathslinger
I saved up my iri shards to get this killer recently, and it first he was great, I was wiping teams consistently, (well almost, i always let the last surv go) but after maybe 10 or 15 matches with him, MMR caught up and I'm not sure how to effectively play him against SWF or really sweaty survs, he feels slow, pallets and loops can slow him down so much it feels like you almost have to tunnel 1 surv out of the game at start, which I dont really like to do.

How should he be used? What are some good strategies and perk layouts for him? Im relatively new to killer but Ive been running Lethal Pursuer, Eruption, Jolt, and scourge hooks to try to slow down the gen rush and keep pressure on the survs. Any advice is appreciated!

He's a tricky killer considering his slow aim and his spear is easy to dodge when you've fought him enough.

When I run DSlinger, I use Save The Best For Last, Monitor and Abuse, Jolt and either Sloppy Butcher for slow healing or Scourge Hook: Pain Res for more gen regression. And for add-ons I usually go for Gold Creek Whiskey and Wanted Poster, Whiskey to further reduce TR when aimed and the poster for faster movement when aimed.

More importantly though, it's very good to know when you should spear, where you can spear in loops, and if your lunge can reach the survivor in the most efficient way. I've managed to get some cheeky lunges around walls with the right distance, and I know some loops have little spots your spear can get through with enough practice.

And lastly, remember survivor's will dodge many shots and learning to outsmart them is very tricky. Sometimes I'll just aim down sight to make them turn just to get me closer to them when I put the aim down. It just takes a lot of losses and practice to figure out.

yea i like to always get 1 hit on them first, then use the gun to reel them in if possible, ive found vault and pallets to be good locations to spear survs as well. The problem can be confirming the down tho since the bleedout is so slow. I've also found that pointing the whole screen towards where i think they will go seems to be more efficient than trying to aim the rifle.

I dont know what killers have the monitor & abuse, STBFL, or scourge hook tho. the only killer i have leveled up atm are nemey, nurse, and Deathslinger

Myers has STBFL and Doctor has Monitor & Abuse. STBFL is very good for him since it gets DSlinger to be able to reload faster or continue chase quicker, but if you don't have access to it I recommend add-ons that make reload faster instead if you're also not running M&A.

And always remember that DSlinger isn't the strongest due to the slow aim, the drawback to missing shots and the base reload, so don't worry about losing a lot of matches trying to learn him. He's definitely one of the harder killers to master but imo he's one of the most satisfying from landing those spears.

They gutted his ability with the ADS times. You can no longer use him as effectively for zoning so now he is a map reliant soft zoner. Play conservatively and heavy healing slowdown.

Your aim as deathslinger is to learn to shoot over loops and reel people around into you and to use predictive shooting. You want to shoot where theyre going to go not where they are. Sometimes these people dont know how to verse a deathslinger so you can just shoot at them and its great but for the most part you need to predict because missing a shot gives the survivor a greater distance to escape
As for perks, I barely use gen regression perks. My aim in that game is to knock people down as fast as possible, I cant waste too much time kicking gens.

A reasonable go to is;
JOLT - no time to kick gens, itll blow gens nearby and so you know where to go next
BRUTAL - chew threw any pallets. Most will pre drop when they realise you can shoot through loops
SAVE THE BEST - quick recovery to shoot again
SPIES - easiest way to know if someone is nearby, whether that be near a gen, near a player, near a hook. with most people running aura blocking perks, i find this such an easy go to to find people
Enduring - Im an aggressive m1 player lol so I prefer enduring over save the best because I can recover quicker and shoot and bring that player back to me. 8/10 bring them around the pallet they just threw because they tend to think that stun will buy them time. when they know I have it they pre drop and I have brutal waiting.
Zanshin tactics is good for practising predictive shots. You can see vault locations and loop zones and so you might find it easier to learn to shoot quickly through those areas using it. It is also easier to plan out where you might want to try to reel around something.

Practice is key and losing is ok. He is a killer that relies heavily on being quick and precise. You can have all the gen regressing perks in the world but if you cant shoot through a loop and you cant sharpshoot then youre not going to be using those perks effectively so theyre just going to sit on gens and that person will just run you round the zones they know you cannot control.
I personally find it way more aggressive to use perks that are able to be continuously used as I move.

its ok to lose the matches, the more you lose the more you learn. Its about mastering those shots and learning to utilise the vaults and loops to how you know how to shoot. once you learn this you enjoy it more.

For me the biggest problem is that aiming with DS changes your sensitivity (which ♥♥♥♥♥ with my aim far too much to enjoy him, he was my favorite killer until they killed quickscoping which used to allow me to ignore this problem)

At this point, Deathslinger just plays like a more underwhelming Huntress. His kit can be more fun than Huntress's, but it's rarely worth the hassle, and the ADS time in combination with the slow projectile makes it *very* hard to land shots on good survivors, flicking with Huntress is far easier to do consistently, at least to me.

im new learning deathslinger myself, i find hes not worth it. Huntress is better. you can have more shots, the aim etc is faster, reload is faster if you use a perk.
i also found the aim is different.
Where i aim as slinger is different to where i aim as huntress, idk why

All range killers are all or nothing, since they heavily depend on whether you can land your shot. High MMR survivors know how to dodge projectiles, so all range killers perform only very decent in high MMR. Don't be discouraged by it though.

One tip I can give is DO NOT always use his power, it may sounds ironic for a range killer. If you miss your shot, you are heavily punished, you need to reload and catch up again.

Use M1 if you can, only use his power when survivor is not looking behind or you are very confident that you will land your shot. Study the survivors' dodge pattern, sometimes you may find certain survivor tends to dodge and move to left or right, shoot the direction where you know the survivor will dodge. Invest time to see what gaps in the maps allow you to shoot through.

For perks, I would not suggest gen kicking perks since he is a slow killer. Use perks that allow you to slow gen without kicking it, Jolt, Pain Res, Deadlock. You can also use anti-pallets perks to compensate his weakness to pallets. When you become much experience with him, you can use expose effect perks, like Starstruck to one shot down survivor, which is huge.

Hope you will become an amazing cowboy!

At higher mmr, you might try aiming just to see what they do. Run to the left or right. Then try to make a prediction. Also save the best for last perk allows you to m1 and immediately shoot a survivor.

Deathslinger is absolute garbage there is zero reason to play him over Plague and his add-ons are absolute garbage too.

Gold Creek Whiskey - reduce terror radius by 8m while aiming down the sights. Legit one of the worst add-ons in the entire game and it's a blue one.

Once I get Gearhead unlocked for my perk catalog on all of my other Killers and I burn up all of my Blood puddings, etc. I will never play him again.

he benefits greatly from STBFL and in my opinion that perk is a must because it grants you a quick recovery and and with full stack you can down daring survivors who try to unhook right in front of you. Despite his gun raise nerf survivors can still be easily tricked into fake shot, they easily fall for it. STBFL + three other perk, there is a room for creativity here.
