Who has fun playing the Trapper?
For some reason I decided to play the Trapper - doing some Tome 1 challenges in the meanwhile. Well, who knew? Playing without pressure ("it is a loser anyway") actually is fun. I'm not a tryhard, but with the Trapper I'm a no-try by default.

...Then I did the "Catch 4 Survivors in a Trap in a Single Game" challenge on the first try.

Then I just obliterated a SWF group - three kills, the last disconnected.

And then I got a 4K with almost everything Iridescent in the after-match evaluation.

IMHO, The Trapper biggest strength is... "It is the Trapper, LOL!" (SNAP!) because I didn't see some really smart teamwork. The same happens with Sadako (the queen of the DCers on the first hook), but people are more afraid of Sadako. I never expected to have so much fun with poor Bearman.

BTW, the developers could help him with only a couple of changes: Mostly, let him start with all the traps at the beginning. I guess that the policy is to promote the "newer and cooler" Killers via DLCs.

The problem with the initial position of the traps is that they make no sense. You are literally forced to waste time to pick up a couple of them - and this is what gives the Survivors the initial advantage.

For sure NOED with the trapper is evil :D

? he is sometimes useless machete man when you play some map like dead dawg saloon, people evade traps there easily, but on maps like RPD trapper is a boss, not a complete stomp like nurse with calling ofc, but still I enjoy every RPD match as him.

and when you get someone near basement as trapper... oh

I think giving him 3 traps capacity by default would be ok, not too crazy but big quality of life
If you have honing stone + iridescent stone in RPD, the match will likely be a hell to survivor, at least the matches I played against him using these addons, everybody died.
Good trappers. There are a few. I normally get slaughtered by most trappers I come up against because new players learn their lesson with him pretty quick - STAY AWAY.

It's fun until you meet players who will break all your traps, avoid them (because there is like 2 maps with good grass for traps) and while you're messing with them and walking on large maps without any mobility gens will be gone. Several matches in this way back to back when you feel powerless and you are not gonna play Trapper for a while.
I find trapper fun to play sometimes. There's something very satisfying about finding a good spot for a trap and trapping people multiple times.

Unfortunately, a lot of the time when I play against trapper they're facecampers who continually hit you on hook.
Do bare in mind, killers you play less often will be much lower MMR. So you're more likely to face newbies on them for your first 50-100 games. That might explain the lack of teamwork.
I love Trapper! I don't always 4k as Trapper, but I always have fun playing him.

Just wish yall would consider changing parts of his kit more liberally. Seeing that post on the AMA was tragic for people that wanted to see trapper begin to shine rather than dimly limp along as "bear"ely viable.
I feel relaxed when I play him, even if I'm not doing good, he's such a gigachad. His grunts just make it better.
I started doing this thing where I try to P100 characters in chronological order in both rosters, so with that said I have been playing a LOT of trapper (currently P81, it takes a LONG time when you are splitting the bloodpoints on two characters at once - my Dwight is also P81)

I honestly love playing him, it just feels so satisfying when traps are successful. I try to place them in areas with high traffic but also where people least expect them since most of his more "ideal" trap placements are already memorized by most of the community. This is mostly because I find his strategy of trapping windows and pallets extremely stale unless I can't help it (i.e. RPD or The Game). I'm also a lot more aggressive with my playstyle so I bring the Trapper Sack and Iridescent Stone to start placing all my traps quickly before I start chasing down survivors. My trap placements convince people I don't run Iri Stone so whenever they start looping tiles of disarmed traps, they never see it coming when it is rearmed. Also, I always reserve two traps for the exit gates which I compliment with No Way Out, lol.

I'm not low MMR btw, I have nearly 6k hours in this game and spent at least a couple hundred playing Trapper exclusively with a lot of success.

SWFs definitely make him struggle but he is still fun regardless.

I like playing Trapper from time to time if I want to be chill. Feels like with the way his power works, I can ignore the usual worry of hooking survivors twice in a row because you can play by the simple rule of you step in a trap, you go on the hook. It doesn't feel too unfair to play that way because he's otherwise such a weak killer.

But it's a truly miserable experience getting an indoor map with him. I wish they would make his traps somewhat translucent for these maps (still visible, but not so completely obvious that they'd never catch anyone out). It's like you just don't have a power on these maps. Trap spawns can be terrible at times as well.

He's fun at first because you catch so many survivors in your stupid traps that's it's funny. But he quickly becomes much less fun when you encounter those big brained survivors who know how foolish it is to walk in the long grass. In my experience, he's either a 0k or a 4k killer.

There is something so elating when you get some good SNAP!s that can beat the unavoidable 0K - especially if you broke a perfect loop.

IMHO, the original idea for the Trapper, back in 2016, was to have a Killer that forced you to learn the maps. It is still so and I guess that playing with him every then and now actually improves your game - even if 1K is already a reason to party.
He can be really fun if you were a border collie in a previous life
I do. Yeah he is awful, but that snap tho. It's hilarious too how one big snap can practically snowball a match. Definitely needs buffs tho, like give him all his traps at the start.
One of the happiest moments of DBD for me was a Trapper match. Right at the start the survivors got in my face and started moonwalking, showing off. And one of them moonwalked right onto one of my traps. I just stood there and watched it, nodded, then picked her up and put her in the basement.
