did u read all of the post? isnt their problem, instead steam had a problem with it, they had no intention to stop this dlc, and if u read the family share text, it was said there too that u cant share dlc if both of u own the game, but somehow still worked until now
bhvr owns nothing to yall who had some dlc for free, stop crying about something u didnt payed, put some money apart and buy what u missing
and for the stranger things, well, u could as well buy the dlc instead of cosmetics, simple as it is
Comments to just buy what you do not have, are simply misplaced. Not everyone has spare money lying around. And as others have noted, the logical choice for many, will now be to not buy the new DLC, but rather infill the old. At the end of the day, that will impact BHVR, more than anyone.
And, as a note, I own all my DLC, including Stranger Things. But, for 7 years you could buy DLC without buying the character. If that was wrong, it should have been stopped. 7 years is an awful long time in contract terms to let an alleged obvious error continue. Long enough in fact to be precedent making in tort law.
One of the Golden Rules of Law, is that you should not be able to profit or gain, from your mistakes or provision of misleading or deficient information. I would argue that applies here, and has gone over the 6 year term used in tort cases.
On a sidenote tho, I do know alot of cheaters used this method of having a account with all dlc, then when their dummy account got banned they just family shared the dlc. I dont think it'll cut down on the cheating but maybe it'll deter a few.
==================
The current issue only applies if you have a copy of the base game. Somewhat ironically, the people who are losing access to the DLC, are the ones who had bought a copy of the base game for themselves.
The "cheaters" are mostly those who simply family share it all, to an account that does not own the base game. Some, do have the base game, but I would assume they are mostly those who got it for free in periods when it was given away for free, or at a discount in one of the sales. (As i understand it, cheaters tend to set up a lot of accounts for a game, when it is made free. Treating them then as disposable, for free).
So, to clarify, where they are just using another account, and family sharing, they will still have access to all the DLC.
The more legitimate sharing, where family and house mates have their own copy of the base game, but share their various DLC, are the ones being stopped. Moreover, these people will not only have lost access to cosmetics they purchased, but may have lost tens or hundreds of hours of play put into those characters as well.
The logic of allowing DLC to be shared with people who don't have the game, as opposed to those who do, escapes me. It seems to be the more loyal and invested in the product you are, the more penalised you are.
The lesson here is, if you live in a house with someone who owns the game, don't buy any of it. Just share all of it.
it is, since they're gonna fix it on PS5. however they do not care for steam and are just going to skip fixing it in the name of "steam's policy" when it really is about money
DLC was never meant to be shared separately. You were only meant to share the game + DLC to people who never owned the game. That has been Steam's policy since 2014.
BHVR was in violation of said policy and Valve cracked down.
That's a great idea and one i'm currently using, the perks stay unlocked, but it's gonna be some hard work getting all of those and restoring game :p good luck to him
yeah two friends of mine bought me the stranger things dlc as a gift and we shared but now they are regretting it and one is even contemplating to buy a key for so much money. wtf
ps. i see surtr i like. Surtr is love
