Abnormaly high RAM usage
The game's been using almost 15 GBs of RAM on high settings while the recommended specs are 8 GBs of RAM.
Does anyone have any idea of what could be causing this?

Is it actually using that much, or just allocating it? A lot of games will allocate as much memory as they can, but they aren't necessarily using all of it.
Technically, DBD should only be using 1.5gb of RAM at any single time. Maybe 1.6 at it's highest, normally during the loading process.

Are you having high RAM issues with any other games? What version of windows are you running?

I've figured it out, the new Steam layout is really RAM heavy but only on DBD for some reason. Using Big Picture or the old layout fixed this issue.

I've also had that problem. I fixed it by turning off: "Scheduling GPU hardware acceleration" in settings/system/display/graphics/change the default graphics settings on win11

It's steamwebhelper eating up resources, not even disabling GPU acceleration seems to have worked. Guess i'll have to keep using Big Picture.

Do you have a bunch of browser tabs open in the Steam overlay?
i had a similar issue. downgraded steam and dbd is smooth again, the new version prolly has memory leaks
the new steam client is really broken for some reason

I did, closing them solved it.

The new layout lags when i'm scrolling down my library, and I have a pretty beefy PC. I can only imagine how it would look like in a medium to low-end PC.

my pc is kinda mid and it wasn't that laggy but ffor some reason it's so buggy and not as smooth as good ol vgui and the client also eats a ton of ram if u open stuff. just open the points shop and go to the animated backgrounds/stickers/avatars category and it'll eat more than a gig of RAM and use a lot of CPU after scrolling a bit lol
i don't even use the overlay and my dbd was still lagging for some reason
i wish i could still use the -no-browser parameter...
