Why do you hide you name?

I'm curious why players hide their name?

I feel like in an online game you shouldn't have that choice. you're choosing to play a public game, anonymity shouldn't be necessary.

I do find though, that killers who mask their name tend to tunnel/Slug/Camp more because they feel freer to do so.

I've personally never been one to hide myself online.

So if you do, why do you hide your name?

It kinda sounds like you're mad you couldn't go on someone's profile and leave an unpleasant comment. Whether you are or not, that's the reason people go anon...some people playing this game have never lost anything before, based on their behavior.

I'm genuinely curious if players use the anonymity to play unsportsmanlike while if they couldn't hide themselves they would play honourable.

Most people who hide their names and 1. playing like an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and know they will be called out by the others in the game or 2. are insecure or 3. are popular streamers and they want to avoid being targeted by other players during the game.

I hide it because I got tired of survivors when I played killer, commenting on any screen shots I've posted to hurl insults at me to get behind me turning off public comments, or even going so far as to going off of the Steam platform where they can find me on another (like Reddit or Youtube) to harass me with death threats or telling me to KMS simply because they lost in a video game.

Most of the time I play killer it's not even serious builds. Just meme ♥♥♥♥ like small terror radius doctor, a pig build that makes people scream a lot, or some Hex totem Wraith build.

many cheaters hide their name, because you can't even open their private steam profiles and see their vac bans and stuff.

It's the internet though, these people mean nothing and words on a screen should be easily overlooked.

Well if you have been vac/game ban that's a whole different story and I can understand that's something you'd want to hide.

Everytime I read stuff like this I feel like 97% of my luck goes into dbd lobbys. My ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is super rare and relative tame.
Just currios, how does the steamsupport act in such situations or do you just delete and block?


Guess its a mix out of "im toxic but I really dont like backfire" and, well people who are targeted by harassment. Cant say that hidden names are more often toxic in my games.

Because you people are the most toxic ♥♥♥♥♥ alive.

I'm not kidding. I played LoL for years and it was NEVER this bad. I hop in for ONE dredge game just now and get a lobby of 50 prestige plus swf and they have the GALL to ♥♥♥♥♥ and MOAN about a 3 man escape because I punished them for unhooking in front of me (ie I "tunneled"). But only to the second hook state, this guy didn't die until the very end of the game.

They had ultra meta builds, they played hyper "perfect" and they ♥♥♥♥♥ and HARASS in the end game chat because Ace got "tunneled". And the Ace never even said anything.

That's why. You people are insufferable. Survivor mains are horrible people.

I used to Strictly play survivor (but i only got like 70 hours in the game now) But recently got into playing killer occasionally, and every second or third game i get harassed by survivors so i turned my profile private for non-friends, which ended up in friend-requests instead so now im hiding my name completely. lol
