Anyone else think this game is over-hyped/overrated?
Now before I get attacked and etc. let me just point out that this is my opinion. I'm just curious if anyone has the same thought about this game so far.

I watched the last live stream on Twitch the developers had showcasing a live playthrough and I was not impressed. The character movements were not smooth, I observed on several occasions characters trying to hop over cover and glitching back and forth over it. As well as poor animations when characters were doing some sort of interaction. The hit detection is glitchy as well. And the levels weren't that impressive looking. It seems that this game would get boring and repetative very quickly. I know that the game is not released yet, but it's right around the corner and there's just way too many issues still.

And let me point out something that I thought was absolutely ridiculous on the devs end. NO IN-GAME COMMUNICATION. They said the whole premise was for "players to be as quite as possible". What the hell does that have to do with actual gameplay? It's not like the player who is the killer is going to hear the survivor chat. Communication over mics is not going to take away from the gameplay, in fact it would IMPROVE the experience, making it easier for players to form a plan and win the match against the killer. Now if they wanted to make it more realistic, the devs could of had the mic chatter to where players needed to be within a certain vacinity to another to pic up their chatter. That would of been acceptable and more "realistic". I just think they dropped the bomb on that move.

A lot of people seem to think this type of game is unique too, but there is already a game out there called "Damned" that was Greenlighted. It had a similar concept, with 4v1 play. It wasn't that successful either I feel like these devs are over thinking the game.

Again, this is just my opinion.

*To note: When I say over-hyped, I mean amongst the community of people interested in the game, not outside sources, etc.*

I agree with you on the game needing possibly close proximity communication, but overhyped? I don't anyone has overhyped the game at all. It's unique in multiple ways. Yes, Damned was possibly considered somewhat similar (Never looked at it but some say it is and isn't) but I do think this game will make it just for the fact that it already has a fanbase and for the fact that the gameplay shown so far has been interesting. I know i'm going to enjoy the game. I've seen some gameplay and when watching I think "wow this guy is dumb... I'll never make that mistake" But knowing me i'll probably make that mistake. Plus the game will have replay value and the outcome of the game will be different every time. I like the fact that the map is randomly generated to. I also agree with you on the fact that some people have overhyped the game, but I alone with many others have not overhyped for it. I still think the game could use voice chat though. It will surely need it.

I think if the devs add in the voice chat and fix some of the bugs it'll be a better experience for players, but I don't see myself actually getting the game. Just doesn't intrigue me enough to purchase it.

its been discussed time and time again that the reason for no voip is griefing. if you can talk to each other the killer can hear you and whos to say you arent going to end up with some dumbass little kid running around where you are screaming in the mic the whole time. i like the idea of silence.... scared ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ so no speech. or if you are playing with friends use discord/vent/teamspeak

I dont think this game is over hyped at all. I barley even see it being covered by any major sites.

However the premise of the game is something I've been wanting ever since I was a teenager and its finally happening.

Perhaps I should of said "overrated" rather than "over-hyped"

I think this game will be nice. Not a game of the year thing, but well worth the money and fun for 30-40 hours

I have not heard much of it aside from going to the page and being interested in what I saw. Seems like something with a good bit of leg and room for post launch growth.

This, when I choose a game I expect it to give me 2X the cost in gameplay hours. So if I spend $60, I expect at LEAST 120 hours out of the game, if it gives me that the game in my eyes is worth it. I expect at least 60 hours out of this game so its wurph to me.

Also it depends on if your a fan of this style of game. I personally am, (I also loved Evolved) so I will be getting more hours out of it then some people will.

So TL;DR, while you can consider it "overrated", its a cheap game you that will deliver price<gameplay and for the people who REALLY enjoy this style of gameplay (myself included), it will give you MASSIVE entertainment for the ammount spent.

2x the cost is a damn good rule although I don't really follow it. I'm a frivolous buyer. I personally think about it as 2 hours of really good entertainment is about 7 dollars (like a movie ticket) So if the game is good enough 7$ to me is okay for 2 hours. Although it also depends on the quality. Soma only took me 8-12 hours or so but I'd pay doubble what I did, that game was amazing.

A game is a game if it entertains you its worth it

I prefer the game to have no voice chat. I feel like it will really add to the immersion.

I love seeing how other people justify the money they spend. For me, whether its games or anything really, I figure it into how many hours would i need to work to spend that money. Then ask myself if I am willing to work x amount of hours for it. Has worked well for me and kept me from spending money too frivolously.

Well that, and the wife.

I bought it for RU330, guess it's 660 hours for me then. Not that I mind at all. :happycrank:

get the hell out of here. this game may seem over hyped to you cause people like you just cant seem to appreciate nice things we get. and you would be stubborn enough to post a thread in the forums to piss us off talking about how much you think this game is "overly hyped" gtfo. dont buy it. DBD dose not need youre cheap filthy money.
