Meg unlocks Sprint Burst perk so it makes running away easier.
Claudette unlocks a self healing perk without needing a medkit.
Just kidding, I started with Jake and I think he's best if you want to play stealthy, which the current meta suggests survivors do. Special character perks like Calm Spirit (a high chance to not alert birds) and Iron Will (when injured and hiding, his whimpering is reduced) can really help in that regard. Also good are perks like Spine Chill and Premonition, which you might consider including in your eventual build.
Trapper for killers he is very easy to stop survivors and get points
Hillbilly or Wraith for killers seems the easiest to play, as all they involve is finding and killing
Killer trapper or wraith
Claudette is good when you have self care but you'd need to buy enough time to heal up. She also has empathy which at tier 3, shows you the auras of all injured survivors and survivors being carried by the killer, can be useful for letting you know that survivor is being chased by the killer so you'll have a general knowledge of the killer's location, but you can still use that to heal them and gain altruism points.
Meg can use sprint burst to outrun the killer for 3 seconds after that time you should have found a place where you have a chance of sneaking away successfully.
Jake has calm spirit which reduces chance of crows going off(which is always good since good killers or killers running spies from the shadows perk will use crows to their advantage), but his main perk is saboteur, allows you to break hooks and traps without a toolbox however patch 1.1.0 made it so now the killer is alerted when a hook is broken.
Dwight is the infamous character used by rank 20 lvl 1 players that are absolutely new to the game, his unique perks aren't too beneficial except for bond but that's outclassed by other perks in the meta, Dwight is purely just a meme character.
Nea is a swedish laddie included in the first dlc The Last Breath and not much has been done with her compared to the original four survivors. i do think that streetwise and urban evasion will make good teachable perks as the former reduces consumption rate of items and the latter noticeably increases crouch-walking speed which will greatly aid your stealth game.
On a serious note, Jake and his Calm Spirit perk are a must have in my opinion, but Meg with her Sprint Burst is also very useful. Get a feel for all of the characters!
For killer... I cannot chose a good one for first play, mabey the Wraith, because he can be invisible, and its more easy catch players that dont know where you are, and in that way you can explore the map better to know how it works. The killer i most use its the trapper, he can place bear-traps, if you try it, be smart and place traps on windows, and a places where you tink the survivor gona run over there, like in some corners, in house. Every time i play as killer i get easy points, and i every time get rank up... I dont know why, i play a little with killers, but today i get rank 16 in only 2 hours...... But i still on rank 18 as survivor, and as survivor i think i play better... Sorry i know its of topic, but i still donk know whats happens.
