Why do the killers do that with there weapon?

When you're the killer and you hit someone they ALWAYS slide there weapons across their arm, I know thats how you prevent spam. But what are they doing??

It is OK for Trapper - his arm covered in blood and scratches. But Wrath? His arm is always clear, and trying to clean this way weapon with 3 blades is simply illogical.
