Once I associated the noise with the minigame, it became muuuch easier to stealth repair generators.
The trick is to learn the specific cue sound it makes right before the event pops up. Once you get that down, you'll get the hang of it.
If you're worried you won't accurately land the Great Skill Check, you can still hit it a little late and just get a Good one. It's better than exploding the generator.
And once you're really used to it and get perks, you can use Spine Chill or Premonition to give yourself some forewarning while repairing that gen.
But like Zanzibar said, sometimes it's good. If you're alone and make a gen explode, just high-tail it out of there and know that you probably created a good distraction for your team. So long as you can sneak away without being seen, the killer will be left wasting time looking around at an abandoned generator.
If the game is to easy, its not fun at all.
But what others had said you can use the fails to distract the killer while others do the generators and don't forget to listen for the cue sounds it warns ya that the little mini game will begin.
