Yes, I've learned that pretty quickly.
But it's awesome when it actually works out! Haha. I've saved other people in the basement when we are both on hooks, or gotten away and escaped because the killer figured they would chase the last guy down. But yea it's not that often.
I usually just try if I doubt my team is gonna bother to get me and they are just sitting in closets/crouched the entire time doing nothing.
Of course you might unhook and then immediately be slapped and skewered back up again, but that makes me laugh as well.
Is it possible to get off the hook by yourself? Yes.
But is it unlikely to happen? Definitely.
You can you do it, but you have to get really lucky.
