I've been irritated by this for a long time. You get hooked, you get your ears destroyed. You play killer and hook someone, your ears get destroyed. God bless Ada for having such a weird voice in this. The only one that doesn't hurt my ears.

The irritating part is killer in particular really needs to raise the volume to play properly so it's largely unavoidable.

Idk what your playing on but if you're on PC, I had the esc button during that part since its SO LOUD. It just shows you the menu where you can see what offerings are used and stuff and it dims the sound quite a bit. Way easier than lowering your volume imo. But I agree its way too damn loud.

Open the Steam's overlay for a second (Shift+Tab by default) just before your survivor will scream, it cancels it.
Works with every prolonged sounds in the game.
　
Edit: I do it all the time. It is indeed very loud!

If you're playing killer, when you hook someone, hit them immediately upon hooking them and that stops the scream short.

It doesn't effect killers so it will never get fixed. i literally take my headset off every time i'm hooked or else ill get a headache after a couple games.
