Were you sprinting leaving scratch marks everywhere? Missing Skill Checks or fast vaulting? Were you standing on or close to an active portal which the Demogorgon can see if anyone is near with his power as long as it is an active portal? Were you injured most of the match so that the demigorgon can hear you? There is far more to hunting a survivor than just aura perks. If the killer has played long enough it isn't hard to constantly find survivors small maps in general can make it easier to spot where a survivor is. As far as finding people at the very start, I have played this game enough to where I generally know where a survivor will spawn relative to where I do. Maps like Ormund if I spawn far away from killer shack I can almost guarentee that a survivor has spawned there.
And they weren't using aura perks? Were you going back to the same gen over and over again? Were you just opening chests or cleansing totems or something? I am not saying there aren't killers that use wall hacks I am sure there are, not sure why they bother considering aura perks exist. I am just wondering because the loop isn't hide and seek, it is waste the killers time. They make survivors fairly easy to find because the chase is what the loop was made around.
While I won't say that you're wrong, I DID just get done playing some Dredge matches and decided to mix up my kit a little bit. He (it? I don't care, "he" is my generic informal) has an addon that allows him to get killer instinct whenever he teleports between lockers, so he knows if someone's nearby if he stays on the move. Also one of the challenges in the Tome right now involves "I'm All Ears", which I've literally never used before today but which shows me whenever someone's running around nearby every 40 seconds. Way more useful than I thought it would be, I'm keeping it on him.
In short, while hackers ARE out there right now, it's also feasible that some people are just using aura reading kit. As you said, you checked their loadout at the end and I believe you, but if you feel you're seeing this a lot and NOT checking every match (because really, who does?) it may partially be unintended confirmation bias.
Like as a killer, killers have noises, crows, scratch marks, blood spots, and good old fashioned awareness of looking for survivors around generators that have slight repairs done to them. Auras aren't needed when there's common sense.
This is one reason why if I start near the basement as a survivor, I go in the basement and grab the chest. It's such a stupid spot to hide that killers often aren't going to go down there. Yes there's a perk that reveals me going in the basement, but who tf brings that unless you're adept huntress?
There is an aura reading clown build. As long as clown is invigorated he sees all Aura's w/i 16m.
So this tactic is a double edged sword, Lethal Pursuer is more common these days and if you just go to the basement upon spawn you are risking the killer trapping you. Second if there is a gen above basement and the killer checks it first and you are mid opening they can hear you opening the chest from above, especially if it is in shack.
That being said, subtle cheaters are indeed the worst. There's a fairly high chance you'll run into one with a Chinese name.
What about addons? Demo has one that lets him see ya in portals or gens being worked on. It can feel like this when fighting a killer with great game knowledge and some good guesses; not everyone who finds you without a perk is automatically cheating. Though with how easy it is for cheaters in DBD I understand the suspicion.
Would you prefer that people including myself completely plaster this place and others with how often we run into not subtle, but 600% certain and obvious killer cheaters? I can do this all day, especially since I have the misfortune of living close to China.
No, right? You too, also are trying to defend how sometimes it's just that killers got outplayed by actual good survivors. We're trying to do the same here.
