Ratio.
There are more killers queuing than survivors. (Or just a lack of Survivors)
1. Time of day. They usually are longer around this time.
2. Recent patch made killer a bit less stressful, so people actually want to play killer now.
Unfortunately the byproduct of allowing killers to achieve the dev's stated goal of not having an under 50% win rate (we don't actually know yet if this patch even accomplished that yet) does incentivize more people to buck up some courage and play some Killer. When the next patch releases, they'll reinstate the reward system to better encourage people to play the side that needs players. I don't even know if that'll work THAT well tbh, but it's something. It's an Asymmetrical game, someone's going to feel some semblance of unbalance somewhere while playing.
since the latest killer pleasing patch nobody wants to play survivor anymore, and masses are leaving. most of the playerbase is solo queue survivor, who are simply left in the dark without any help or defense against the overflowing killer toxicity.
even tho the kill stats clearly showed 1 year ago that every single killer has more than 50% killrate (closer to 60% except nurse and trickster who are at 49%)
devs only said they want the killrates a little bit higher, so the goal is not even 50% anymore i guess.
it is what it is, survivors had it enough and leaving the game.
because of the long killer queues, killers who never touched survivor flooded the survivor queues, and this resulted in decreasing quality of teammates, and at the same time provides an explanation why there are so many sandbagging survivors who works with the killer suddenly..
add to the formula the couple of hours newbies and the nonexisting MMR and you will understand why nobody wants to play survivor anymore.
Playing survivor has become miserable as years have passed.
