unfortunately ;c
but thanks and i wish you fix this!!
Maybe you could try using a VM if you can't upgrade.
I do not hide my current hardware is not the best but it was enough for me until recently. Well, unfortunately, it is not enough now
Once I had windows 10 on my hardware it did not work well and I went back to 8.1 and I'm not going to reinstall windows 10 on my current hardware
but windows is not all the reason for black screen can happen cuz of some other reasons like Graphic card or Ram (your pc hardware)
check this and see what this website says about you running the game or not :
https://www.pcgamebenchmark.com/
still there can be other reasons like driver update or windows update or perhaps you didnt install all the requirements apps for the game (this one is very unlikely cuz it is steam ^_^)
or maybe your pc is not in a healthy state like damage in some hardware and needs fix ❕
Also this might help too :

in the end i strongly suggest you ask DBD official support for help as in here there are mostly other players ^_^

Its a little off topic but if you alredy saving up money for something that fits make sure its windows 11. Win 10 will eventually run out in few years but 11 will stay, also you should consider a pc over laptop, i know towers are expensive but there are cheap ones, they just can do more than a laptop in general and sometimes cost the same even. I made a huge mistake and bought a "Gaming" laptop. That thing worked 2 years and then windows broke completly, not possible to get it back until you would send it to Lenovo them self. (very smart)
I got myself a good tower pc, with high graphic card and proccessors, yadda yadda, all you need to have no issiues with gaming and i litteraly payed nearly the same price. Like only 200 bucks more or something like that, cant quite recall. Just saying, all though its off topic i like to share this expierience so people dont get scammed with "gaming" branded laptops. They just take massive graphic cards who are actually good but they cut them down to fit in a laptop.
