I wanna assume old version of Ruin, in the ancient times when it regressed for not hitting greats? Which even then I wouldn't say they depended on each other, just were busted being together. Otherwise if you mean Ruin as in with the whole regressing thing... The two literally countered each other and at most Pop was just a backup for when Survivors destroyed Ruin to still have regression, back before there was even as many slowdown/regression perks as there are now.
As for the whole Pain Resonance and Deadman Switch... You know, you can stop pressing M1 when you see the aura of a survivor about to go onto the hook, let go during that and THEN continue working on it.
Nah man, that is NOT "classic" version of mettle man.
Classic version was getting three hits from BASIC attack.
Now it requires PROTECTION hits, not just getting hit.
Before, it was bad because after going through all that effort of getting 3 protection hits... Your endurance just literally went away if you touched a gen or anything, like ♥♥♥♥ that. It's already difficult to activate on it's own, why make it even weaker and easy to just instantly lose?
It was nerfed in the sense of they removed the "scream" part from pain resonance, because it made it too strong and viable since it gave both regression and VERY valuable information.
Then they readded it, but it doesn't have an indicator of the scream, but if you actually know how to play the game and have functioning headphones, you can figure out the direction that it didn't change anything.
Aka; they just reverted it and technically removed accessibility from the game, as usual.
I'm sorry, but my main response to stuff like this is stop complaining and get good. The synergy between these two perks only comes into play against bad survivors such as yourself, which is fine, but think before you speak.
Just let go of the motor when the hook animation starts? Also Pain Resonance has less than 19% popularity so it's not even remotely close to old DH popularity. Old DH was the most popular perk in the entire game. Even at 1100 MMR(beginner MMR) it had nearly 35% popularity so almost double of current Pain Res and DH going as high as 75% at top MMR bracket
Do you really compare top1 very strong killer perk which is used by 25% of killers versus a meme perk which is used by 1% of survivors?
If the survivors fall every 20-40 seconds, then it is the fault of the survivors themselves
-how to counter Pain Res/DMS combo:
1. let off your gen when you see a survivor is being hooked;
done.
And to be fair, DMS itself can really come in clutch only if you have a way to harass survs off the gen after the hook, so you probably want to run something like bbq and use killers like Artist, Blight or even Hillbilly, to get value from DMS. This combo is not even remotely close to being as good as you described it, Deadlock gets much better value than DMS.
But didn’t worry if you encounter an issue, just stop work on a gen when the killer hook someone.
