I Hate The Trickster; Here's Why.

I've only started playing DBD last year-ish. I only have 500 or so hours. I'm not the greatest but I'm not bad at the game either. I feel like all the other killers have balanced gameplay and the survivors can counter them, but the trickster? Nope. Especially in open maps or indoor maps, he's impossible to counter. His knives are OP and it feels like you cant dodge or outrun them. If anyone has any tips on surviving the trickster, please feel free to leave them here for me and others.

EDIT- I should add that most of the time I DO escape (chases and trial) against a trickster, but feel he's a bit janky sometimes and want to get better at looping and dodging him :)

Unless it's a hacker trickster (which I've seen a surprising amount of) he's easy to counter, just dodge back and forth from his knives until you reach a safe zone with corners to loop around, honestly just zig zag will make most tricksters miss with their knives and then going around a rock, tree or wall pretty much stops him.

I do that every time, but with that one add-on which makes his knives faster it's just a bit too much, but I will try zigzaging wider I guess, thanks! :)

If you have some shards, you can buy him and play him.
It might sound silly but knowing how to play a killer also help to play against him. Plus it allow you to see how other survivors face him.

Other than that, you can start running early when he comes for you : he is only at 110% speed, so he is pretty slow and it is hard for him to land knives at long range. If you have nothing to work with, try to run around a tall rock : it will force him to M1 and again, he is pretty slow.

Also, try dodging and ducking. It might sound silly advice but ducking can really help because it throws off his aim causing him to waste knives. To to a place that he can't M1 you and just duck.

If you think it's hard to outrun knives consider how hard it's to deal with a huntress that can actually aim.

Trickster only feels stronger because he makes it easier for worse players to get those ranged downs.

I think there's a pattern here. People think Killers who are easier to use have OP abilities.

This is the best advice for getting over the idea that any one killer is overpowered. Even nurse. Take time and play the killer. Note your frustrations and use them against the killer the next time you play them. Trickster has trouble in walled loops much like nurse. You have to stealth a bit against him when crossing open areas, too. He's dangerous on open maps for a reason, just like Ghostface is on indoor maps. Every killer has their strength and weakness maps.

He’s quite literally one of the weakest killers in the game. Objectively weaker than Huntress. Idk why you’d have trouble with him.

Because he's an average survivor and average Tricksters have above average performance against average survivors while average huntress players have below average performance vs average survivors.

In English that means Trickster's power is easier to use thus you will meet more effective Trickster than Huntress players even if a good Huntress player is more dangerous than good Tricksters.

TL;DR: Skill issue.

I do that but it feels like he catches up pretty quickly if I have to leave the loop, I guess it's a skill issue on my end but thanks for the tips :)

I find it easier dodging huntress. It's only one hatchet you have to worry about and they're pretty easy to track.

Just bring indoor maps every time. Majority of killers suck indoor greatly, i know it, i played them a lot in RPD and other ones. Using knives, hatchets, vurulent bound, chainsaws, demo jumps etc becomes nearly umpossible with all the corners and turns.

Yes he does have perk to make knives ricoshet from walls, but the trick against trickster is - noone plays him. The last time i met that killer was like 50+ games ago. As for Nurse, i getting her atleast once per 5 games and she is much more stronger in same condition as trickster (open map areas and indoor).
