You would think a company that makes record profits every year could afford to make and tailor their own anticheat, but I guess not.
Hackers aren't RAMPANT in DbD, but they're not entirely uncommon either. In my 700 hours, I've had survivors blatantly running at 110-115% speed (I circled around a thin tree and couldn't catch up until bloodlust kicked in), survivors doing gens at impossible speeds (I downed one survivor in the first 30 seconds of the match, and 3 gens popped instantly- when I know only two were being worked on, because I saw another survivor hiding nearby for a flashlight save attempt), and people avoiding getting hit entirely, just standing there in the open and letting me swing, my weapon bouncing off them as if they were a solid object.
Indeed, tbh this is the first game I ever encountered hackers in, after about 860 hours on dbd. It's just frustrating that this is still a thing, especially in an online game, that's also PvP.
Examples:
"Those gens popped in 20 seconds, No way they are not cheating!" = The killer miscounted.
"He is running me on this loop for 2 minutes, He must be speedhacking!" = You are cutting the corners so wide that he is gaining distance on you.
If you notice any weird stuff like being unable to grab someone, Being hit from miles away or not being able to hit someone then you can blame dedicated servers for that one.
Yeah, after playing almost 900 hours, I'm pretty sure I know how to cut corners tight, and I know how much distance a survivor can keep against a deathslinger at most loops. Anyway, post-game I called him out on it and he just replied "I'm hacker".
