How To Counter Myers by A Myers Main
Let's first talk about his strengths first before the backlash replies come out:

- He has a very small detection radius when at Evil Within stage 1
- He can one shot down people when at Evil Within stage 3
- His Evil Within stage 2 has a slightly smaller detection radius than normal

and for his weaknesses:

- low speed at Evil Within 1
- No special abilities at Evil Within 2
- Evil Within 3 impossible to reach on certain maps

Now, the first thing Michael wants to do is to hit Evil Within 2. Staying at Evil Within 1 is not a good idea against swifty survivors because its impossible to chase them around anything, and if there's pallets then forget about it: Michael won't be able to get any downs.

Sooo, in order to get to Evil Within 2, Michael has to stare people down and the key here is that Michael wants to stare down 2 or more people. This means if your team is going around in a pack, Michael is going to reach Evil Within 2 extremely fast. Good survivors will spread apart on the map so if Michael does see one, he can only siphon off so much evil. Remember: the more players in his vision, the more evil he gets. The more evil he gets, the more damage he's going to do. Ideally, you want him at Evil Within 1 as LOOOONG as possible. This means you want to play the early game very slowly and cautiously. Hide until you know who the killer is. Hide in a locker, hide in a corner. DO NOT DO GENERATORS! They are a dead give away, and only do them by yourself. Don't do them with teammates! This means Dwight is a BIG NO NO.

Now, what happens if one of your teammates goes down? Well, that Michael is going to camp. Myers sucks at chasing people across the map, but if he knows that there will be a group of survivors then he will be there. Remember: 2 survivors or more will give him Evil Within 3 faster than just a solo survivor. Myers will camp the body and your best bet is to do generators while he camps. If you decide to play hero, he can do this: wait until you unhook then siphon evil off of both you and the person you just saved, then he's going to chase down one of you for an easy one shot down.

Should a player try to juke out Myers like you can do with Hillbilly or Wraith?
Juking Myers really depends on the map, but he basics are to cut corners and run through corn fields. Myers is strong on open maps, and weak on tight maps. Take for example Lampkin Lane: Myers will never reach Evil Within 3. Why? Survivors will just run around the house cutting corner after corner, making it impossible for Myers to stare anyone down long enough. If you think about this way, Myers is actually fairly weak. But on open maps it really depends on how much cover there is. Remember: if you can't break line of sight then play cautiously.

The biggest counter to Myers is individual, stealthy play. In the beginning, Myers will try to sneak up on you, but you have to stay out of his sight until you get a bead on him. Only once you have a feel for what he will do, then you can start doing generators. The big mistake people make is making too much noise in the beginning thus throwing away their advantage from the very start. Myers can't chase anyone effectively at Evil Within 1, so keep him there for as long as possible. Dumb newbies will make this task much harder, but that means you have to juke him effectively and prevent him from going to Evil Within 3.

Myers is definately a "pub" stomper, but he has a tremendous weakness against a group of survivors that plays very smart and cautiously: a slow movement speed that can be abused soMyers remains at Evil Within 1 for half the game or more. If Myers gets stuck at Evil Within 1 for a long time, then its gg for Michael.

I think Michael's Evil Within 1 needs a buff, and his Evil Within 3 needs a nerf. Evil Within 2 is actually slightly UP because there's nothing special about it.

How to counter Myers TL;DR :
Run away from his level 1. Stay out of sight. Check everywhere around you.
He's a normal dude at level 2. Stay out of sight.
Run for your life but don't panick at level 3, and force him to waste time on a single chase so he cannot go on a murder spree.

His ability and perks are OK, all the things about him that should be nerfed are his addons, they're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broken and not balanced at any point.

Unless you play with experienced people Myers will be at Stage 3 within the first 30 seconds. People in general are simply too unexperienced/incompetent to break line of sight.

This. So many times a survivor will run right out in front of me at the start of a match and not see me and start on a generator. Then say it is not fair. (Low Level) I think the matchmaking getting a fix will solve the problems, high level survivors escape alot when i'm using MM.

I may be able to agree with this. Being able to be at tier 3 forever, and/or instagib people who are running from you just by getting close enough to them, is a bit much. It depends on how things turn out when people get more used to him and know to break LOS. It takes a while to get to tier 3 with both of those addons.

It's kinda like saying "4man mori is OP". Yes it is, that's why it's ultra rare. Kinda like the brand new part for the toolbox.

Not trying to break your bubble, but real players will force him to go E3 in an area where they can be sure that they survive him 60seconds.
Most of your tips are completely useless, since you cant LOS his ability, only your small toe has to peep out of the corner and he feeds himself.

They aren't the same. You can wipe an entire team with the Myers addon without having to down or even hit them once. With a Mori (which probably shouldn't be in the game either in its current setup), you at least have to down them.

This basically.

Wish Trapper add ons were that nice.

'This add on does absolutely nothing... except make using sabotage against your traps annoying... and that's only if they didn't bring a toolbox in which case this add on really does absolutely nothing'

Trapper addons are Ok. You should see Nurse's addons. Complete disaster.

^THIS!
For some reason ppls keep talking about LoS like it's a 100% foolproof mantra for safeplay.
While he can see you and siphon evil from you from the tiniest of cracks and it's impossible to hide from him in any place at all unless it's a closet and he does not know that you are there...
OH and btw it was fixed with teh latest hotfix that he actually can't siphon evil from victim in the closet. before it he COULD! So... Yeah... Such a balance and skillfull play on that one killer...

you can't los mm for long enough to mean anything..
Gyrrenberg Oct 31, 2016 @ 4:43am
Myers completely takes all the fun out of the game since he can sneak up on you and then one-shot your entire team. He badly needs rebalancing and I would recommend not playing at all untill this gets done.
