The Shape Guide
Introduction
Michael Audrey Myers is a lethal and horrifying enigma. Nobody knows why he killed his sister Judith, and nobody knows what continues to drive him to systematically hunt down and brutally murder his family or anyone in his way. He seems to skirt the line between being a man and a supernatural force, surviving multiple magnum rounds, explosions, blunt force trauma, and even falls from great heights. What little humanity remains behind his iconic mask is repressed by an insatiable need to slaughter - something The Entity has granted him.

The Shape plays very differently from any other Killer in the game. In a matter of seconds, he can transition from a stalker hidden in the shadows into an almost impossibly fast one-hit killing machine. By observing his prey, he gains power, with the ultimate reward for his patience being instant downs; thus, playing The Shape is a unique blend between stealth and brute force. Before we begin the guide, let's go over a few FAQs.
FAQ
Is he OP?

The developers do not believe he is overpowered. Quoting Dave, one of the developers:

"There is absolutely no reason to nerf or buff anything yet. :) We found some things that could be integrated better and will work on those, but nothing that changes the basic balance of The Shape."

Why is he called The Shape and not Michael Myers?

Myers was referred to as "The Shape" in the credits for the original film. It is widely believed that this was done to differentiate between Michael Myers and the psychopath he would eventually become, making them effectively two different characters.

Help! People aren't highlighted when I stalk them!

This was an issue related to render resolutions. It has since been patched.

How do I play as Michael?

You have two options.

Option 1: Purchase Dead By Daylight: The HALLOWEEN Chapter for $6.99 on Steam.

Option 2: Use a Black Splinter offering to play as The Shape for one match.
Stalking
Stalking is The Shape's primary mechanic and is both a strength and a weakness. Upon hitting Mouse 2, your screen will blur and your vision will narrow; any Survivors within your field of view will be highlighted and you will gradually siphon "Evil" from them. Evil is a resource required to progress between each tier of Evil Within. Each time you move up or down a tier, a piano cue plays that alerts the Survivors.

Evil Within I

At Tier 1, Evil Within grants Michael an extremely small terror radius (heartbeat range) at the expense of movement speed and lunge range. Its primary function is to allow The Shape to find Survivors, siphon Evil from them, and progress to the other tiers. With certain addons (such as the Scratched Mirror), it can also be used as an offensive ability. Once you progress beyond Evil Within I, you cannot return to it.

Evil Within II

At Tier 2, The Shape gains increased movement speed, slightly longer lunge range, and a slightly larger (but still smaller than normal) terror radius. Once you reach Evil Within II, you always have it; you cannot return to Evil Within I.

Evil Within III

At Tier 3, The Shape's debuffs are removed and his terror radius becomes normal. The major benefit of reaching this tier is gaining access to instant downs for 60 seconds, meaning that Survivors will go down after being hit even if they are not injured. Certain addons take this even further by allowing Michael to instantly kill anyone he attacks without the use of a Memento Mori. Unless he is using an addon that increases its length or locks it, Michael will return to Evil Within II after 60 seconds (signified by a piano cue).

General Strategy and Perks
Assuming you are not using any ability-changing add-ons, your general strategy should be this:

Step 1: Locate some Survivors to siphon Evil from and reach Evil Within II as soon as possible.

Step 2: Continue to siphon Evil from the Survivors, but land hits if you can. Reach Evil Within III as soon as possible.

Step 3: Once you reach Evil Within III, down as many Survivors as you can. When Evil Within III ends, begin hooking them. Even if some escape or are healed, the amount of time the Survivors must spend rescuing and healing everyone significantly slows down their generator progression.

Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 and 3 as necessary.

If you are using Play With Your Food, you will know if you are chasing your obsession by the twitching Entity limbs around their name and an audio cue. DO NOT KILL OR HOOK THEM; instead, injure them, get three PWYF tokens, and then leave. The speed boost you receive from Play With Your Food gives you a massive advantage and should not be overlooked.

Recommended Perks

Save the Best for Last - Combined with Unrelenting, this perk gives you insanely fast melee attack speed and essentially makes running away from you during a chase pointless.

Unrelenting - As mentioned previously, this perk is quite good due to its recent buffs and is even better when combined with Save the Best for Last.

Play With Your Food - At Tier 3, three tokens increase your movement speed by 21%. It's as insanely good as it sounds. Pick it up ASAP.

Iron Grasp/Agitation - Either perk will work, but Saboteur is still a popular perk and definitely needs a counter.

His other perks are too situational and, in my opinion, are ineffective.
Recommended Items
Jewlery Box - Increased movement speed while stalking may not seem important, but it is. This item allows you to siphon considerably more Evil from people as they run away, which is always good.

J. Myers Memorial - Self explanatory. You receive Evil faster.

Scratched Mirror - Using this essentially transforms you into a more powerful Wraith with wallhacks. I would go so far as to say it is overpowered, as you essentially know where the Survivors are at all times.

Tombstone - It's actually not that difficult to reach Evil Within III even with the debuff this item causes. Murdering people at full health is insanely fast and will generate loads of post-game salt.
Maps
MacMillan Estate

This is by far one of your best realms. The darkness allows you to creep up on people at Evil Within I pretty much undetected, and continues to serve you well at the higher tiers. Compared to other realms, there aren't many pallets, which in of itself is a benefit. Finally, as there are relatively few obstructions other than trees, you can stalk people quite easily without worrying about losing them.

Autohaven Wreckers

While it's fairly easy to spot people, your biggest problem here is one that affects the other Killers just as severely - pallet towns. There are numerous pallets here, often close to each other, making chases irritating. The upside is that many people don't understand that pallet camping isn't viable against Myers, which might allow you to easily farm Evil.

Haddonfield

Haddonfield can be good or bad depending on the skill of the Survivors and the add-ons/offerings you use. It is slightly Survivor-sided, but the Scratched Mirror in particular is extremely effective as there are often only a few escape routes out of the houses. The exits are also extremely close, allowing you to patrol them very easily. However, there are several infinites and effective escape routes, so it's mainly a test of skill.

Coldwind Farm

Coldwind is probably the worst map for Myers. Stalking people in the cornfields is incredibly difficult, as you'll stop gaining Evil from them if they go behind corn despite you still having line-of-sight on them. Coldwind also has its fair share of infinites, but these aren't nearly as bad as those found on Asylum. Avoid this realm if you can.

Crotus Penn Asylum

Asylum is and always has been a nightmare for Killers. Spooked Survivors will immediately run to the asylum itself, where there are windows, pallets, and drop-down areas everywhere. An effective way of dealing with this is to use the Scratched Mirror, as you can often creep up on people inside of the asylum without them knowing and land a hit or two.

The Future of the Guide
The Shape was released yesterday and is still a very new Killer. This guide will be updated as I become more experienced with him and more information is revealed. If you have any questions or concerns, please leave them in the comments; I'll try to read and respond to as many of them as I can.

Thanks for reading, and good luck in the fog!

Well first, there is no guide to play MM because anyone can get a 4-man with him. No need for guides.

which is why i like to use him..

People underestimate him, and are usually surprised (and often angry) when they get rekt.
Don't know if its him or his perks that make him so powerful, but I have quite litterally with him sacrificed all survivors WITHOUT using his Evil Within - without leveling it up that is. Not just with one match, but many matches now.

Of course it also has something to do with how I play and those I play against, however in my opinion I think the main reason I have been able to do this, is because of using the perk "Whispers" which incredibly powerful if you know how to use it. Because, when used correctly one will not have to keep searching only to find out that searching that particular area was a waste of time.
