Steam is offline according to my game

Tried to play with my friends today and all of a sudden when I am at the screen where I press enter to start, it freezes and then I get the message "Your status in steam is currently Offline. All game functionality is unavailable under the circumstances. Plerase make sure your internet connection and steam connection is active." I also get a notification that EAC has blocked steamClient64.dll

Any ideas whats going on and how to fix it?

Every Thursday Steam goes down for maintenance. It usually takes 15 minutes to 30 minutes to finish.

That's tuesdays. The issue here is, if you have notifications enabled, that EAC will block you from joining the server because the steamclient64.exe or whatever is untrusted.

TLDR: EAC is blocking you from connecting.

Reason being: Steam did an update on their service today and EAC hasn't whitelisted the change.

The problem is probably that the certificates arent being allowed by anticheat

Other games on my list are not allowing me to play (if it's online kinda game, like Fall Guys) but local games are not an issue past start screens.

My husband must have opened his game before this issue happened because he is playing fine from his PC with our crossplay friend on PS4

It's not. It's affecting multiple games with EAC right now, and EAC itself states that it does not trust Steam's latest EXE file.
