Dead by Daylight slowing down every others applications.
Like the title says, I'm not sure what causing this. This is the only game with I have this problem.

Once Dbd is running, when I open Google Chrome for example it takes ages. Others issues related to this: I get a lot of freezes, sometimes big ones! It is more frequent if I happen to have a live stream in background.

Is it a common issue? Did someone experienced the same problem? (Couldn't find similar issue on internet).

Looking for answers! Thank you :cwat:

Is this "Gamingmode"-Thing from Windows still a thing?
What do your taskmanager say? Chrome and Dbd are both cpu heavy, maybe your ram is just full

What do you mean by iis it still a thing? It is turned on on my computer, I could turn it off and try.

While in game the GPU is barely (40%-ish), Ram 33%. CPU is alright too. Maybe there's a software to run some test while playing? I don't know any.

I should be fine with my computer's specs, I run Red Dead Redemption 2 in Ultra Full HD.
This is very specific to Dbd and I'm not sure where to look at.

Yeah it sounds like your CPU is maxing out and/or you're running low on RAM so I'd agree with above post and run Task Manager and see what's going on.

DBD isn't very hard on CPUs at all HOWEVER it's worth noting that every single time you start the game it verifies the entire contents of the game which currently is ~54GB and while this is going on DBD will use nearly twice the CPU until it completes which depending on your system can take anywhere from 3 to 15 minutes. If you're wondering if it is still happening just check DBDs disk usage which will be sitting at ~0 MB/s while in the menus once it is finished and will be quite high while verifying.

It is more than likely the Easy Anti Cheat client running while you play DbD.

You know what an anti-cheat is. You know you can't remove it or stop it from working or you won't be able to play DbD at all. But that's the single most demanding program I ever ran on my computer ever. I can run it fine with this beast of a computer I have but Jesus Christ does it use a LOT of resources. At least 3 to 5 times more than DbD itself.

Another thing I just thought of... Is your paging file on default settings? Meaning it is set to allow Windows to managing its file size for all drives?

Double check by right clicking on start, choose System then choose "Advanced System Settings" on the far right then choose "settings" listed under Performance and then the "Advanced" tab and then "Change" from the Virtual Memory section. You want to make sure that Paging File Size is set to "system managed" as well as the top box "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" is checked.

If they aren't then set them that way, apply and reboot.

DBD is very fussy about certain things and the paging file is one of them.

Did you make the mistake of turning off vsync?

vsync will minmax the framerate of the game, at the expense of absolutely everything on the PC.

If you have a good GPU, this should barely be noticed, but if you have something like GTX 960/1060/1050/1660, or an iGPU (basically anything with less than 4GB of video memory) the impariment will be anywhere from slight to severe.

Uhh what? Are you saying that your EAC service is using noticeabe resources?

If so no that's not at all normal ever even for a few seconds when it first loads up never mind constantly, can you show me a screenshots of this happening?

What does that even mean, can you explain?

I'm literally on an 11 year old potato with 8GB of ram & 2nd Gen i5 and this game runs perfectly fine with Vsync disabled.

What's more common is nobody that plays this game seems to understand how to do things correctly or what they're doing so they follow the terrible advice of YouTube videos and Steam guides that can't even explain how to do something as simple as disable vsync correctly... at least that's my experience with the 100 or so that I've seen.

Yes it's common for the game to consume your pc resources that previously were assigned to chrome.
What about steam overlay browser?

Can you provide the same of your EAC service using all these resources with the same columns selected so I can see?

Thanks!

^ That's a good thing to know! But I do not think it is this, the issue I have it's present until I finally close the game. Still, I have checked the disk usage, right now it is indeed sitting at ~0 MB/s. The game has been running for hours now.

^ I have indeed made this mistake? I've turned it off because I do not have a G-Synch monitor and screen tearing was noticeable. It was a couple weeks ago though. However, I have an RTX 3080 so it should not be a problem?

Right click the dbd process and set priority to low. You will get lower fps though.
What's your cpu?

EAC do not shutdown at the same time than DbD when I close the program on my system. I wish I could tell you why but DbD itself is the one program which NEVER behaved like a normal program from the second I first fired it up. I had this exact problem of EAC not shutting down a year ago, then it went away with a DbD update, then came back for the last BP event a few months back. So, when I start DbD everything work fine on my system. Up to the point where you need to connect to the servers. Then my computer fans all crank up to 11 as soon as EAC start doing its thing and return to a normal level when I open my task manager and the same second I kill it manually after I'm done with the game. Oh, and I also need to close Steam because Steam still think the game is still running even tho it is not.

When I look at my task manager it always say that power usage and power usage trend is very high whenever it is working. This include after DbD has shut down. It also use my HD a lot. Not that I consider that to be strange for an anti-cheat program tho.
