1 contract ended netflix dont wanna renew
2 netflix probly pulling out of the contract and terminating it reasion is unkown??
3 something happened to make netflix pull out for some reasion devs prob cant apeal to this choice or something else cant think of
But, it's not like such a behavior is uncommon nowadays.
It's possible they plan to create a horror game and DBD may compete with that. It is unlikely they are going to release a SMITE type game in the future.
I wouldn't underestimate companies that easily.
The reason why the license wasn't renewed is a different story, but considering there's a new stranger things season coming soon, and people making remarks to a possible stranger things game, I can very likely assume that both the price of licensing and just the general idea of not wanting to were also factors of this.
However, I do strongly doubt, 21 Laps Entertainment is interested in selling their licenses completely (that the licenses would stay, and couldn't be removed, unless they do get into agreement with each other).
I mean, 21 Laps Entertainment might be up for prolonging it for some more money, thanks to the popularity of DbD after getting Stranger Things involved, but, honestly?
Who'd be up for getting limited-duration licenses for their product? It's only paperwork and taking care of prolonging it, as well as payin' another huge sums of money - Bein' in the long run quite a lot.. Clearly over X times more than what the 21 Laps Entertainment would've demanded, if they were to sell the license permanently, which I don't believe they do ever plan to do.
It sure would've helped to enlighten the situation, if we'd have the missin' clues as to what's the reason, how exactly did the contract lookalike, and all the stuff behind the scenes.
