Why do so many people have private profiles

I feel like a lot of people turn their profile to private in this game. Is the harrassment that bad?

To hide the fact they're swf is probably the most likely reason. Or maybe people just like their privacy. My profile is public and I've never gotten toxic comments. Though I might have comments set to friends only, not sure.

Profile -> Edit Profile -> Privacy settings -> Can post comments on my profile: -> private/friends only

Now everyone in the game is a bot for your amusement, this is how you make this game playable.

This is the only game I know of where players feel the need to check peoples profiles. It’s weird

I've only ever had my profile private, literally the only reason until I found out it was a separate setting to keep people who aren't my friends from commenting on my page, from leaving rude and unwanted toxic comments. It's all public except the comments that are allowed, which are friends only, cause I don't have time for salty players.

Fair, I understand that. One of the reasons why I quit DBD is the harassment and just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ following with the game.

How is that weird? Humans at their core are social creatures/crave it and they like a peephole into others lives online (gossip/drama/heated 'debates') DBD just brings out the true nature of the Player sometimes because of the adrenaline Cat&Mouse thrill/rush.

Nah, sorry, thats just dumb. I would even go as far as to say that this attitude even validates / confirms the reasoning behind private profiles. I mean, whats your problem with private profiles if you yourself dont flame others on their profile? Thats like saying people are scared chickens because they lock their cars. If you dont plan on stealing the car, why make fun of people for locking it?
