Dead By Daylight isn't DBD anymore.
What I mean is that DBD was supposed to a "Horror" title. Hiding in lockers and having the terror radius creep up on you with a killer on the loose was an awesome idea. The game didn't evolve into the horror aspect but more the 4v1 aspect as an objective game.

Now the game is a toxic sweatfest with 1000% brightness on maps so you can see everything with the community tearing the game apart. Like, the Deathslinger even has THE SUN on his map. Bruh.

DBD is still very enjoyable even if it is less horror but stealth killers aren't really stealth, just good at starting a chase or mindgaming mid-chase.

Oni has the best/scariest chase music in my opinion.

It really makes you feel like you are being chased by a 400 pound 8ft glowing gorilla that goes Mach 3 to beat you with a stick.

You're never going to have an immersive experience in a multiplayer game, so looking for a true horror experience in a multiplayer game is a fool's errand unless you've never played any other horror titles, and even then once you're exposed to the same jump scares over and over again, they naturally lose their effect.

The perfect game doesn't exist yet.

You're right, it's not horror anymore it's a joke. This game was supposed to be horror, you can clearly see it. How DBD was a few years ago. And if they add such killers like one from FNAF, it's more than just a joke then.

What you're describing is an inherent flaw of a versus game.

For one, due to repetition the "Fear" cannot exist anymore due to simple conditioning.
For two, there's a competitive aspect, and competition drives more than fear. After the conditioning kicks in you're simply trying to win. Where would fear take place?

I don't think it's as much that "it's a joke for horror" and more after a couple rounds the things that induce fear just simply... can't anymore because you now expect it.

One of the biggest fear inducing things in any medium is unknown. But in a versus game, you HAVE to know. And if you have to know, you can't have something be unknown, and in turn your main source of fear is instantly gone.

I've been told that in my Oni games even if I do "meh"... "MY GOD YOU'RE TERRIFYING" "But I didn't kill anybody" "I DON'T CARE I WAS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ JUMPIN OUT OF MY SEAT"

Oni definitely has the benefit of giving you enough anticipation and follow up with suddenly being in your face.

I honestly can't disagree more. DBD was always meant to be competitive and to somehow say its not a "horror" game is just straight up disingenuous. Are you honestly telling me that you don't get scared when playing survivor? Im a rank 1 survivor and I basically ♥♥♥♥ myself against a plague player today who had no terror radius. In this respect the game is still at its core. Its horror competitive, they basically created the genre in term of mass appeal.

Your middle point is honestly just not worth talking about, like talking to a flat earther. Muh sun like what?

Wraith isnt good stealth? Ghost face isnt good stealth? Freddy in dream state isnt good stealth? Several killers with perks and addons can even become good stealth killers. If you actually play well, you can mess up a team so bad.

I disagree. I bought this game around 2017 and it is vastly different. It didn't feel like a competitive game, at all.

Any multiplayer title will lose its horror element quite quickly. That's just how multiplayer, PvP specifically, titles wind up. You'll be too focused on winning and doing your goals to be "scared" (excluding jump scares).

I mean the killers can see survivors easier on brighter maps and that was the goal of the Devs more than survivors being able to see killers. It use to be difficult to find survivors in the beginning but now you will always have someone to chase. At high rank survivors lose most of their games and definitely get far less BP.

Every few weeks or so, I thread like this pops up. Yes, it's certainly sad that the horror effect gets lost over time. But it is pretty much inevitable by the mere fact, that the "horror" repeats itself over and over and over. If you just don't play 1 or 2 matches and then put the game to rest forever, you WILL get used to it.

Even Outlast (or worse games) will lose their horror factor if you repeat playing the same part over and over. It's got little to do with the lightning or any other factor. If there's no variety, it becomes a routine.

It was never scary at all ...

Yeah, the game has become far more competitive as of recent years. Although I don't think that's a terribly bad thing. I like the competitive nature that this game has developed, even if there are mechanics that directly contradict any form of competitive setting.
