Odds of Pig's trap

Does anybody know how the odds work for these traps? I am an old player, and I remember when she was new killer, usually I could remove these traps after 1-2 boxes, however maybe for 1 or 1.5 years now, usually I have to search until the last box to remove these traps and now many times I die because of that if I get healed before looking for key... did they change the odds, or how is it determined?

I can imagine two options: when the trap is placed on the survivor, the system determines 1 box as the key for your trap, so you just need to find the correct one as soon as possible.

Second option now I feel as real option is that, the odds are lower when you search the first boxes, I mean last box 100% key chance, 4th box, 80%, 3rd box 60% and so on.

What I usually do is that I start with the box what is closest to me, then I go around the map in a circle. Somehow I usually have to seach until the last box. I just try to figure out how does it work.

Any confirmed info about the odds, or it is like the clock of Freddy, that I should try to look for the key in the farest box when the trap is placed on me?

The odds are quite simple.

There's 4 boxes by default. Meaning there's a 25% chance to get it off the first time, 33% the second, then 50% the third and 100% the last.
