So apparently killer takes priority
More specifically, Killer takes priority in hatch.
I always thought it was stupid for killer to take priority in the wiggle 100% vs hook animation scenario but thats just survivor bias.

I've just now discovered in the scenario where a killer is standing on hatch and a survivor sneaks up behind them at the exact moment it opens , killer takes priority there too.
and Im talking perfect timing too. I saw for a 1/10th of a second that my survivor begin the hatch animation (exaggeration yes so keep your Ben Shapiro undies on) and then hatch closed, resetting me.

I'm just a little disturbed that in the most unlikeliest scenario (first time for me in 4 years of on and off playing) that I get wrecked on hatch lmao
might be an oversight

Yet killer does not take priority in the scenario as a whole, because if a Survivor reaches the hatch first, it's an insta-win for them, but if the Killer does, the Survivor still has a chance to escape through the doors.

I think we can let them have this one.

The real priority from killers you should be worried about is the hits, the worse your region and connection the better for them.

I dont think you just read what I typed.

It JUST happened. I started hatch and in that instant he closed it.

I forget to mention it played back hatch closing sound twice at the same time and that There was no connection issues for me through the match.

I felt that

the priority on hatch closes usually goes down to ping, actually. If you're unlucky, you usually lose the hatch priority.

Im thinking that must've been what it was. a spike in ping or something because the disbelief I felt just now was unreal

this doesn't really bother me as much as others since survvior can have key and open early.

And its' much better than hatch standoffs. I'd let the killer grab me instead of sitting there 5 minutes hoping to escape.

Still better than a hatch standoff...
The Archivist Sep 9, 2020 @ 5:29pm
They also removed hatch interrupt. Is that Killer sided, not being able to stop a survivor from using hatch via downing them or hatch grabbing?
Probably afk tbh (Banned) Sep 9, 2020 @ 5:53pm
So in the few instances both the survivor and the Killer know where the hatch is the survivor doesn't auto escape? I don't see this as an issue since the hatch is already a pretty questionable game design choice being an instant "I win" for that survivor for, in all likelyhood, just being lucky enough to not be the one being chased by the Killer at the end.

Also as been mentioned Killer closing the hatch doesn't kill the survivor, whereas survivor escaping ends the match immediatly.

Because if survivors had priority, they could guarantee an escape if they found hatch first.

Equip a Key too, and that's just a gg

yea killers do get alot of priority while survivors got it in the past with nerfing killers etc (which was stupid and changes needed to be made) i think survivors need some sort of spotlight now like the devs just love makeing solo imposible to survive
Panda Sep 9, 2020 @ 7:17pm
You guys missed the point.
Im talking about this specific instance where both killer and survivor are interacting with the hatch.
Keys are irrelevant.

Someone reminded me earlier that you cant interrupt a survivor going through hatch. That is true. So im thinking this was a bug or a ping issue.

You can't interrupt a survivor going through the hatch. Killers deserve priority to closing the hatch.
