DBD killer plushies - good idea?

Hey guys, i've asked BHVR if i can crowdfund some DBD killer plushies and just wanted to get thoughts from you guys. I know we're all grown ups here, but some cute/scary looking stuffed toys could be pretty cool and a nice way to remmeber our fav game.

What do you think of the idea? Do you or anyone you know think you might consider getting one?

Which would you most like to see?
Should survivors be included as well?
And what size would be best? 4", 8" or 12"

100% wouldnt be copyright infringement because it wouldnt go ahead without their backing. It wouldnt in any way be a for profit endeavour, so totally not worth the huge amount of time and effort without their support.

But ive seen them actually celebrate art and models and things people have made about dbd that went on to be sold. not to mention streamers make a living from their content.

What i'm wondering is, if i simply made drawings of cute versions of the killers (so quite different from the artwork in the game), along the lines of my steam pic - and gave them names different to those in the game. Maybe just 'Philip' for example - would that be different enough? Then maybe i could add other characters inspired by other games later.

You're probably right. If they could for example sell the rights to a big company like Funko, then they would have to say no to this. But i doubt that's ever been considered. Especially given that their merch store has just a hand full of tshirts and a cap.

Would it be better if they were like baby killers... and thus suitabel for kids as well? Or should they be just like their in game form? I could easily envisage a non copyright violating game related plush set featuring the killers in a hypothetical baby form. Still nasty and scary and look the same, but innocent too.

As a grown a$$ man, it's weird to say it, but i'd like one of these on my table or shelf to look at and remind me of all the people i sent to the Entity with that character.

If the DLC bombs and enough of a fuss is made by gaming magazines they might back something like this. They're a shady company who clearly only thinks of the profits so lets hope.

Almost everyone is bedpals with streamers now though. A game I know with less than 500 players even sucks up to them. lol
That might work. But if they want to be anal about it they could say "It bears the likeness of the trapper" or something.

I just don't trust big companys with IP's and money. They get greedy.
Like that time some girl made a Corvo Attano mask from Dishonoured and she almost got sued and had to destroy the piece.

I would personnaly prefer to have a little wraith as plushies. For size, I guess the usual dimension for a plushies (not something for a pocket and not something of less than 300mm of heigh

I actually got a really good quote with minimum order of just 100! So its starting to look doable.

Was thinking to call them Happy Campers :P

Cute, baby versions of the killers could help get around the legal issues if there were any.

Trying to decide 8" or 12".

I think price would be around $20 for 12", probably around 12-15 for 8".

Thinking to start with maybe just 2 or 3 but add the rest as stretch goals.

Thoughts?

Yeah, its surprising how little merch there is. Those of us who play this game generally have 100s, if not 1000s of hours in game. Its kind of a cult game in that sense, i would buy just about anything wraith or hag related due to having such an affinity for the character,

Yeah its a really tricky issue. I could make no mention of the game, the character names and just have sort of a likeness.

Maybe if on top of that i made one totally not from the game then it might help. They'd look more like some of the cute fan art you see on the weekly stream.

We'll see. Awaiting their response.
