Always hit after vaulting
Hello!
I play as survivor, and whenever I am chased by a killer and try to vault through a window I ALWAYS get hit. Sometimes I have have even started running after vaulting, but when the killer tries to hit me he always does, resulting in me getting ingured or downed. It feels like vaulting is an insta-hit for killers, no matter how far away they are. Is this just me or have other people also experienced this problem?

I am rank 8 (although this is more because of playtime rather than skill) and have played for a while. I'm not an expert player but I'm not really bad either, but for me vaulting is just useless because even if I have vaulted and is running again, if the killer is even remotely close he WILL hit me.

survivors and killers are not synced. without sync you don't know where the killer is relative to you.

As killer, I always swing when they're vaulting, bcuz even if I think I'm gonna miss or they just seem too far, 8 times out of 10 that hit connects. But I get what you mean as survivor as well, the vaulting animation is finished, but they still seem to hit me over the obstacle even with some distance between us :csdmeh:.

DBD has a really weird hit box for weapons and the server sync issue doesn't help.

You can walk up to a window and swing and you won't hit terrain but if you slowly turn your camera down towards the bottom ledge, you'll hit the ledge and it'll stop your swing.

This shows me that killers are intentionally supposed to be able to hit people standing on the other side of windows.

i guess if you think about it if that was a real lift situation the killer would also be able to hit the person through the window (if there is no glass in the way) as they would reach through and gain alittle extra distance in the lunge and if they aim lower they would hit the wall/ window frame. I just wonder if this was intentional by the devs or just a accident that they are happy to keep in even though its annoying for survivors and some killers even admit they shouldnt have connected its still part of the game and i doubt they will ever fix it

I think they are happy to keep it in. It's been noted for a long time by survivors and killers and they haven't really tried to fix it or even address it for years.

Game developers don't say that you will become invulnerable during windows vault, you can get hit if you're near the killer reach even though they're on the other side of a window.

Latency is an issue of course, but also there's a difference between a fast vault, a slow vault and a stealth vault in terms of hitboxes. A fast vault is *much* safer but you have to run directly at the window for a certain distance before you vault it.

Thank you for all the response! Yes there seem to be a latency problem and I think that is what might be bugging me.

I understand the logic that the killer should be able to hit someone standing on the other side and hit survivors when they're vaulting, but when you have already fast vaulted and started to run away from the window and the killer swings and hits me anyway, there is just a tiny bit of me who wishes I was a rage quitter.

The few times I play killer I experience the same thing, hitting survivors when I know that hit should clearly have missed. So as some of you say, this is probably a latency issue.

However, because of this it feels like fast vaulting in this game is useless 9/10 times. Vaulting through windows doesn't help you escape the killer, it just adds a bonus hit to the killer. I know the devs probably won't fix this, but I at least want to raise the issue haha.

Yeah you can get hit through a window, there is a slight delay sometimes once you've vaulted a window to which a Killer could fully go upto a window and manage to hit you even if you was running, this can also happen over fences or at windows if you was looping Shack for example, if you get to close to the window while looping the killer can hit you through the window.

Dedicated servers need tweaking, theres loads of bugs because of it, be it from gen grabs to Dead Hard not working, it needs tweaking but with the mix match of pings of players it'll be very difficult to resolve I'm sure, sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't, having the perk Resilience helps though if you plan on doing a lot of vaulting.
