Theory: Legion was originally meant to be Jeff The Killer

Just got done trying out Legion for the first time and surprisingly enough it was a 4K game.... my first every 4k Game...

Sheer dumb luck is how I pulled that off... as aside from Nurse, this is the most useless killer I've ever played.

Two survivors were doing gens together... I knocked them down... put them on hooks and before I left the area... someone came to save them.. who died immediately... and I was like

"This didn't just happen... did it?"

Then I hear a Generator Skill Check fail in the distance and... BOOM!

I won with Legion, my first time, 4 Kills..

Anyway... this is probably a common theory but..

I'm convinced that "The Legion" was originally "Jeff The Killer" himself, but was changed up later in development when they themselves realized this was a horrible idea.

Now many believe and the Developers have stated that Legion was their take on Ghostface, from before Ghostface. Which is believable. The Trapper is a copyright safe Jason, and Hillbilly was meant to be a stand in for Cannibal.

Some have stated Legion's young age and being composed of multiple killers as proof of this.. but.. I honestly think they just said this to save face.. as Jeff The Killer though a popular creepypasta, is a cringy one.

Let's review

Ghostface is known for, being a different person each time, wearing a mask that's constantly screaming, and making prank phone calls. Overall being a comedic and more self-aware character.

Jeff the Killer is known for, constantly smiling, being an edgy character, having a female counterpart named "Jane The Killer", being a kid, and the catchphrase "Go to Sleep"

Legion is nicknamed "Edgy Gang" by the fanbase, Frank's mask has him constantly smiling, there are no comedic elements to his character, Frank by default has a female opposite named "Susie", and is both shorter and younger than the rest of the cast...

It's obvious which one he's more like. The lack of comedic elements really sells the "uhh.. Scream reference?" angle, especially since when Ghostface was released they went all in with the comedy angle, with his Mori even having him take a selfie.

More proof, Legion's survivor is named "Jeff", which is interesting because Legion gang all have names with an E in them.. they made a point to have that be a specific characteristc of the gang... yet Frank's name doesn't have an E... strange. (Even if you called him "Franky", Franky is spelled with a Y.... Frankie is an acceptable spelling, but it's mostly reserved as being short for Francine which is a female name, not Frank or Francis which are male names)

I think Jeff and Frank's names were swapped when they made the decision to make this an original character.

This also explains why Legion's so underpowered

Legion's mostly an M1 character who's power is... running.. that's it.. he runs.... oh but you can attack while running, but this attack can't actually hurt anyone, it just slaps on a bleeding debuff that makes it easier to track survivors hit with it... something they already do if you just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hit them normally.

It can be used for traversing the map quickly, but it's not good for the chase since it prevents you from knocking down the opponent which is exactly what you're trying to do... It's a worse version of The Pig's nearly identical power! Only he doesn't get reverse bear traps to make up for it!

Ontop of that it has one of the longest cooldowns in the game, second only to Billy's overheat

Legion's underpowered because he's a joke character, he's "Jeff The Killer", the creepypasta come to life... Look at him and his wonderful failure.

I was dubious after hearing someone call the Nurse "useless".

I wouldn't be surprised if The Legion is just the dev team's take on self-parody edgy teen killers, though. The main fan theory on them is that they were made to have a character with a lot of easy to make cosmetics, as well; since they're edgy teens with a basic stabby weapon who will wear anything, it makes it easy to shill out whatever cosmetic the devs want to slap on them.

I don't even them yet, and I got the silent hill rabbit outfit "pink" though I'm debating the orange one, I like the "shy" animations.

The problem with Nurse is that she's completely useless unless you have the timing of a God. Otherwise.. yeah no.. you're lucky to hit anything. She's all or nothing.

There's no way they actually intended for Legion to be taken seriously.. I feel like they're legitimately embarassed by them

I hate seeing all the unjustified negativity that's directed towards creepypastas and their fans. Creepypasta is a great genre and the edginess makes it fun. If you hate creepypastas for being "edgy" or think they're "cringe" you hate fun.

I love Creepypastas aswell, but I dont think he is some sort of OC Jeff the Killer.

I think they were aiming for Ghostface but hit Jeff the Killer. I also agree with you the humor (or lack thereof) was the deciding factor; Ghostface is still the guy who sobs "My mom and dad are gonna be so mad at me!" when he thinks he's about to get caught, and there's nothing like that about any of the Legion.
