Is this game actually scary?
I keep hearing about this game being good, but I'm not too sure I should try it.

If anyone's wondering, I can't withstand loud noises in any manner whatsoever. It's a mental issue I have.

I can withstand games such as Bioshock in general, so yeah. Not so much FNaF or anything like that, I tend to lose my nerve and immediately shut the game down.

(NO I AM NOT SAYING THESE GAMES ARE IN ANY WAY SIMILAR SHUT UP)

It's more competitive than scary, so go ahead. :)

If you cant play games like this, go and play your minecraft then.
Less about jump scares and more about the thrill of the chase. Will you be able to maneuvar properly to get away and will this be the round where bonder's luck (all bad) comes into play and you get hooked a minute in and nobody bothers rescuing despite killer actively chasing someone.

It's scary when you start. After hours playing you will not be scared except from some jumpscares from Myers and The Hag.

I would say the game is scary for the first few hours then it dies down.

There are some noises in the game which may cause you distress, playing survivor the killers (apart from the Myers) have a heartbeat which gets louder the closer they are, there is also tense music when being chased/chasing.

As a killer you will hear the survivors scream when hit or hooking them.

None of the noises are particuraly scary as to say but I would recommend watching some streams or youtube videos and turning the sound up, sound is very important in this game for both sides.

It isn't scary. It has no jumpscares at all. But the atmosphere can be pretty stressful. This effect will dissapear as soon as you play a few times in a row.

There are no jumpscares, but sometimes, you might be frightened if you see the killer without having known that he's close to you.
My recommendation is that you can watch youtube videos or streams on twitch to see if you can withstand the noises.
There is nobody who knows your issues better than yourself.
There are no jumpscares; it is more like "hide and seek" but with evil characters.

Also, you can always play as Killer.

The game is high tense. Not until you sink many hours in it and understand the mechanics very well shall you treat the game as competitive instead of scary.

It's not a game about jump scares, if loud noises is what you are referring to, however there can be a couple exceptions (possibly indisious Perk and Michael Myers) otherwise the tension builds from quiet to loud.

This game works a lot with sounds... for survivors there are several that play suddenly depending on killers action somewhere on the map... when injured / hooked loud sounds add more stress... as survivor you could tune the sound down. Good surv decisions do depend on sound but not as much as killer gameplay. With no sound you are plainly lost!

As killer there are no sudden sounds - most "sudden" game sounds come from your action - so you know in advance that you will start the sound signals soon (e.g. stalking as Michael Myers)... as killer you depend heavily on sounds to hear all the very quiet survivor actions properly as gens being worked on, injured survs moaning. You have best support with headphones and loud sound.

Dunno what OP wants to play. Maybe just try out and have a sneak peak for the 2 hours payback warranty?
