Depends on what do you mean by “safe”.
Is it gonna highjack your pc, delete all your data and use it as a cryptocurrency mining equipment? Probably not.

Is it gonna browse through your files to find cheats? Yes, it probably will.

It doesn’t look into them. It compares the signatures of known cheats with other files (usually on desktop, the game’s folder or other common places cheats may be in).

I’m not sure how exactly this anti cheat works but if you’re scared your “homework” folder will get exposed by it, you have nothing to worry about.

Depends upon "safe". I dont know of anyone looking to see if this software package "calls home" with what it finds on a Person's PC. using packet examining tools and all. I dont think most game companies want these pieces of software clogging up bandwith, let alone using it to create telemetry of one's computer. If they did waste these types of resources and were caught. Either they'd wind up in a lawsuit, or someone mad enough to SQL inject their "call home" scripts to send them a "party favor".

To the best of my knowledge it just looks for files that are commonly known cheats and does it that way. A "cheat checker" for memory files more than likely. Which does a terrible job lol.

EAC won't actually harm your pc but it's probably the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ anti cheat I've seen.
For example if you got multiple games that use EAC, then you have to wait for one game to fully shut down before you can launch the other one. This is usually not a problem but in some cases, games that run EAC especially, don't close properly and keep running. Sometimes you can't even end the task because they don't show up in task manager. But for some reason EAC and Steam/epic think the game's still running, forcing you to restart your PC to fix this.
Another issue is where files randomly disappear when you alt+f4 (even when not saving/loading) and makes you do an integrity check and download them again. For people like me who use hard drives, this just takes more than 10-15 minutes.
