Killer Recommendations For Red Rank Survivor

I have never really played killer before. All my time has gone into Survivor. Seeing as I finished the survivor rift I thought I would have a go at trying to play killer more. Naturally, coming from red rank I got some game knowledge of how survivors act and what to expect, with that in mind, what killers are good for someone with decent survivor game sense already? I am currently using ghostface and finding it quite alright but I don't know what 'tier' he is in or if there is someone better suited. I quite like the stealth approach but don't mind a non stealth killer either. Also I don't want to play spirit cause I don't want to stay a noob

From what I understand Nurse is largely considered the strongest Killer when played at her best. And by her best I mean she has a huge skill celling that isn't easy even for experienced killers. But when played well is almost unstoppable. Spirit but you mentioned you don't want to play her, If you like stealth go for Ghost face, honestly the tier rankings in this game are different from person to person, everyone will tell you something different about what killers are good or awful, It's most about on the perks you have and your own player skill. I mean hell, a lot of people considering legion to be weak yet I've seen him dominate many games at the high ranks. Knowing your killers skills and abilities and when to use them makes all the difference. Find one you enjoy playing and master them, if you think it's not enough, pick another up.

People will tell you the best killers are generally:
Spirit (Even though you said you didn't want to play it)
Huntress
Billy
Freddy

I don't include nurse because I have 'never' seen a good nurse since her rework, either on my ranks, or watching red rank streamers on occasion.

Though a lot of other killers can red rank at this day and age because survivor rank doesn't mean much of anything besides time dedicated, not skill.

Stealth wise I'm a fan of the pig. Wraith can stealth too, but I find he's more reliant on good perks/addons Vs the pig.

Spirit is a high skill ceiling killer, so you wouldn't be a "noob" to be good with her. You hunt with sound and can play the best mind games. But if you are averse to her read on.

I personally like Oni, but people wreck with Billy. Both have decent map pressure and 1h mechanics.

Seems like billy is favoured. Weird cause I rarely ever came across a billy. Recently I have seen alot of doctors, Oni seems to be used alot more now too

Seems like I will probably stick to ghostface for now. I am liking the ability to creep up on people undetected and the exposed effect is quite handy

The one thing that will help you with any killer are good perks. Playing as killer will actually make you a better survivor as well since you'll be able to see what they see and think how they think.

That being said, good killers are completely subjective. Even with the top 4 killers listed by Myu, each one is only as good as the player behind it.

Spirit - Only as good as to how the player can use her phasing and play mind games
Huntress - Only as good as the player is at aiming and throwing
Billy - Only as good as the player is able to control his sprint dash
Freddy - Only as good as the player knows trap placement

If you want to include others...

Nurse - Only as good as the player is at understanding her blink range and control

In the end, find a killer that you feel comfortable with then roll from there. Up until about rank 12 (and maybe beyond that?) you don't even need to 4k/win to pip. Take the time to learn how the different killers play and control until you find one that feels good to you.

I personally enjoy Freddy, Myers and Doctor.

It would be nice if DBD had some sort of practice area for the different killers though since learning them in the actual trials can be frustrating and/or disheartening, especially when you get SWFs with high rankers where they only want to screw with you.

Billy and Huntress are good killers, but they also need a fair amount of practice to be able to play at their skill cap. Freddy is good. He doesn't really take much time to be good with. I would also suggest Doctor. If you use the quick shock build, he can do fairly well vs most survivors. I can also suggest Wraith with Windstorm + a clapper add-on. You can also try Windstorm + a uncloak speed add-on.

Freddy easy to learn and strong. billy and huntress take alot of practice to get good with their powers. SPirit you need good headphones, and sounds are broken right now.

Before you do anything tho, get teachable BBQ from leatherface

I'd go with either Billy or Spirit. Pick Spirit if you have good headphones, otherwise, Billy is probably the easiest killer to master and doesn't require a lot of skill to dominate imo.

No matter what killer you use you will do fine until purple ranks, then the ♥♥♥♥ storm begins, you will do fine in some matches and get DESTROYED in others. The moment survivors know how to last a couple seconds in a chase and know that grouping on gens is a waste of time you will need a LOT of effort to win unless they throw themselves to the hook rescue. Basically pick any top tier killer like spirit, nurse , billy and freddy and have some fun , the rest are pretty pathetic when facing a competent team unless you are a really good player or they are not very smart, also depends on the map tho.

Myers can help you understand how valuable your time is, because if you stalk too much early game then the gens can fly fast. also jumpscaring people in tier 1 never stops being fun

Im currently using Myers, I'm rank 7. Honestly having a blast with him. I've had so many games even at this tier facing rank 2's and wiping them even after losing 4-5 gens. Tier 3 is a massive game changer when used correctly. So I don't put too much concern on losing a few gens early, as long as I can apply the pressure, ranking up to tier 2 as quickly as possible is a must. Tier 3 should be kept until you need it, like if they're swarming a gen or ganging up on rescues etc.

Nothing beats sneaking up on someone with tier one and pulling them off a gen haha.

Freddy isn't a bad choice, and his dream pallets can be fun, but know that his default dream snares are more powerful and effective than dream pallets. You have to give up his snares to get the pallets, and the tradeoff isn't worth it at all if you're actually trying to win. If you just wanna mess around, go nuts.
